19 Objective of the Course: By introducing students to Islamic philosophy and its main terms and concepts, the programme aims at preparing students to comprehend the philosophical structure of the Islamic civilization.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Student will have skills to evaluate the history, concepts, methodology, representatives of Islamic philosophy and its relationship with ancient civilizations ;;
2 To analyze Islamic intellectual structure of medieval ages; to compare philolosophy to theology, mysticism, etc.;;
3 To examine Platonic, Aristotelian and Neo-Platonic impact in Islamic philosophy and its transformation in Islamic thougth. ;;
4 To evaluate the classical literature of Islamic philosophy and the works of philosophers on other disciplines.;;
5 To analyze heretical thinkers in Islamic philosophy with its examples.;;
6 To analyze how Islamic philosophy takes shape; and formation of its logical, physical, metaphysical and political dimensions.;;
7 To interpret the interaction between theology and philosophy, and systematical rejection of philosophy.;;
8 To evaluate philosophical activities in the Western Muslim World and prominent thinkers.;;
9 To compare the approaches of Maghrib and Andalus philosophers to relationship between philosophy and religion.;;
10 To criticize the unproductive period of philosophical thought in Muslim World.;

1 The subject, conceptual content and the scope of Islamic philosophy, and its relation to other Islamic sciences.
2 Sources of Islamic philosophy and introduction of ancient heritage: Hellenistic sources. Greek civilization, Indian civilization and Islam.
3 Translations and first Muslim philosopher, al-Kindi: His age, life and thought.
4 The emergence of heretical thought in Muslim World and its representatives: al-Sarakhsi, al-Rawandi and Abu Bakr al-Razi.
5 Al-Farabi, I: His life and thoughts.
6 Al-Farabi, II: His life and thoughts.
7 Avicenna: His life and thoughts.
8 Al-Ghazali: Theological rationalism.
9 Systematical rejection of philosophy.
10 The emergence of of philosophy in the West Muslim World and new approaches: Maghrib and Andalus..
11 Avempace: His life, works and thoughts.
12 Ibn Tufayl: His life, works and thoughts.
