19 Objective of the Course: This course has been provided to help students improve teaching skills and techniques. The purpose of this course is to give insight for the aimed teaching learning environments and help in gaining different points of views. The main goal of the course is to help students improve teaching skills and techniques that will contribute to their careers and development as music teachers, to make it possible for them to develop their own thinking methods for different teaching and learning environments and to present the source that can provide the students with the meaningful music environments in terms of teaching skills and techniques.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to play the piano, guitar,recorder pitched and non-pitched percussion instruments used in music lessons in school environment and to use his/her voice ;
2 To be able to evaluate the development of students and his/her development as a music teacher;
3 To be able to comprehend the ways of becoming a good music teacher;
4 To be able to feel the manners of good music teacher;
5 To be able to comprehend the principals and objectives of Turkish Education System;
6 To be able to comprehend the basic approach used in music lessons in school environment;
7 To be able to prepare lesson plans for the teaching program approach used in music lessons in school environment;
8 To be able to use the materials developed to be used in music teaching;
9 To be able to identify text books used in music teaching;
10 To be able to know the teaching profession to the core;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Talking about the course content, revision of the last term. What should a music teacher do in class. Creativity in Music and sample activities relating to it.
2 Voice education, Passing to polyphony and Canon teaching Sample lesson practices concerning voice education
3 Information on the instrument education, how should instrument education be given? What do we understand from “instrument”? What are the things we can do in class? Sample lesson practices concerning instrument education
4 Talking on the teaching programs in Turkey, introducing music lesson teaching programs of primary and secondary school, giving information about teaching- learning process and assessment and evaluation methods and associating them with Dalcroze, Orff and Kodaly teaching stages Sample activity practices concerning the program, sample lesson practice and preparing a lesson plan.
5 Talking on material development and material building, and presentation of the example materials to be used in teaching (electronic materials, worksheets, sources to be used etc.) talking on annual plan reading Sample lesson practices
6 Assigning the topics that students will be teacing and talking about them Giving feedback on the topics to be covered for each student
