19 Objective of the Course: Investigating ways to implement knowledge related with children’s developmental stages to classroom environment; examining language teaching methods and techniques that could be used with children; identifying the differences between adults and children; learning about different activity and materials that could be used specifically with children; preparing lesson plans and preparing appropriate evaluation materials for children.

1 Examining the developmental characteristics of children at different ages;
2 Identifying the differences between children and adults;
3 Implementing methods and techniques that could be used with children;
4 Using effective classroom management techniques by taking children’s socio-emotional development into consideration;
5 Developing appropriate evaluation materials;
6 Preparing lesson plans for mixed ability classes;
7 Using selection and evaluation criteria when using activities and materials;
8 Looking out for ways to enable autonomy with children;

1 Introduction to the course British Council-Video and discussion
2 Theories that affect language development; differences between children and adults A given topic is prepared separately for children and adults and then presented in class
3 Characteristics of children Trainees analyze their beliefs, ideas, and experiences by making a self-evaluation
4 Attitudes of children towards learning a foreign language Trainees prepare a survey to investigate children’s attitudes to FL by taking children’s characteristics into consideration.
5 Language learning strategies used with mixed ability classes A selected activity is differentiated for low, medium and high achievers
6 Classroom management techniques Visual presentation of possible classroom rules
7 Effective teacher-student interaction and classroom language Presentation of an activity by using appropriate teacher talk for children’s level
8 Repeating courses and midterm exam Repeating courses and midterm exam
9 Techniques to support children’s language learning An activity is presented by appropriate supporting techniques.
10 Preparing , adapting, and evaluating An activity is analyzed according to the evaluation criteria
11 Benefits of involving children in the production and use of materials A material is developed for a topic in the primary school curriculum
12 Preparing lesson plans A lesson plan is prepared and presented according to a given topic
13 Theme-based teaching and its benefits A lesson designed according to a given theme
