19 Objective of the Course: To teach the reformist efforts of the Ottoman State in the fields of administration, economy, policy, society from 17th century to 20th century.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to define the terms of reformation and modernization. ;
2 The student gains the ability of criticism of the reformation movements in terms of positive and negative aspects.;
3 To be able to analyze the process leading to the foundation of the Turkish Republic.;
4 To be able to interpret why and how the social structures transformed. ;
5 To be able to possess the ethical sensitivity required for scientific research.;
6 To be able to obtain the approaches required for historical researches. ;
7 The knowledge needed for the field of specialty might be acquired.;
8 The student is able to increase his/her knowledge with advanced level readings. ;
