19 Objective of the Course: To learn makam formations and basic makams of Turkish music
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Aim is contributing to the student’s vocational development in terms of technical characteristics (makam, tetrachordal structures, tempo, scale, etc.) of Turkish Makam Music, recognizing tetrachordal structures in a piece of Turkish Makam Music.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to identify the concept of makam;
2 To be able to explain the main elements of makam stuctures;
3 To be able to explain the pitch system and pitches of makams;
4 To be able to explain the concept of çeşni (tetrachords and pentachords) and their relations;
5 To be able to explain the concept and types of seyir (route) ;
6 To be able to describe basic makams used in Turkish music;

Information Student is assessed in terms on information on terms such as makam, musical development, tetrachordal structures, tempo, and scale and elements of makam. Student is expected to detect tetrachordal structures in a solfege study of a Turkish Makam Music piece.
