19 Objective of the Course: Gains the ability to read, understand and evaluate materials that emerged in the field of epigraphy in the Islamic civilization, such as inscriptions, tombstones and plaques.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Understands the difference between writings written or engraved on materials throughout Turkish-Islamic history and writings in other areas.;
2 Can analyze the history issue in the inscriptions by understanding the Ebced calculation.;
3 Can evaluate the writing elements in inscriptions by reading them.;

2 Definition and development of the inscription: construction and repair inscriptions
3 Formal features of inscriptions in Islamic art
4 The importance of architecture in terms of calligraphy
5 Inscription in Turkish Architecture.
6 Reading methods of epigraphic texts: Reading attempts through inscription examples
7 Abjad calculation and its importance in epigraphy
8 Features and reading of mosque inscriptions
9 Ottoman inscriptions.
10 Content and reading of the inscriptions of madrasahs
11 Content and reading of the inscriptions of madrasahs
