19 Objective of the Course: By examining the explanations that Islamic philosophy brings to the concepts of art and beauty, it is aimed for students to understand the reflection of this conceptual framework on works of art within the Turkish-Islamic tradition.

1 Can explain the intellectual basis of traditional arts. ;
2 Can define the concept of aesthetics within the Turkish-Islamic tradition and have information about its historical process. ;
3 Can interpret the intellectual background of works of art. ;
22 Course Content:

1 Introduction of the course, basic concepts in philosophy of art, the relationship between Islamic philosophy and philosophy of art.
2 Definition of aesthetics and philosophy of art and introduction to aesthetics in early Islamic philosophy
3 The effects of ancient Greek philosophy on Islamic aesthetics and the examination of the formation of Islamic aesthetics through the sources of traditional arts.
4 Concepts of art, beauty and aesthetics in Farabi's philosophy
5 Concepts of art, beauty and aesthetics in the philosophy of Avicenna
6 Concepts of art, beauty and aesthetics in the philosophy of Ibn Rushd
7 Philosophical and artistic extensions of the concept of “Hüsn”
8 Examining Islamic aesthetics within the framework of the common concepts of book arts, literature, music and architecture.
