19 Objective of the Course: .The aim is for students to learn the types of pattern compositions, create their own pattern designs, and group and draw the inner molding from the edge decorations.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Students can create original pattern designs.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Learn the important points to be considered when drawing patterns in the art of illumination;;
2 Learn the types of composition: Free, symmetrical (straight symmetrical / reverse symmetrical), çark-ı felek, rapport, rumili and geometric composition.;
3 Can analyze patterns.;
4 Can design with free, symmetrical, and çark-ı felek style compositions.;
5 Be able to define the edge decorations applied in decorative arts and group the edge decorations.;
6 Can apply single strip and ribbon (worm) interlacing, which are among the edge decorations applied in decorative arts.;
7 Can define and apply auxiliary elements such as ruler, thread, lamb used in decorative arts;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Explanation of the general characteristics of Turkish decorative art. Definition of auxiliary elements such as ruler, thread, lamb used in decorative arts
2 Explanation of important points to be considered when drawing patterns in the art of illumination. Placing a helix within a specific area.
3 Grouping of composition types. Placing hatayi group motif on the spiral.
4 Explanation of free composition drawing. Making pattern design in free composition type.
5 Explanation of the points to be considered in free composition drawing. Continuing the same practice.
6 Explanation of the points to be considered in free composition drawing. Analysis of the pattern drawn in the flat symmetrical composition type from the symmetrical composition type.
7 Explanation of the anti-symmetrical composition type from the symmetrical composition type. Analysis and design of the pattern drawn in the reverse symmetrical composition type, which is a symmetrical composition type.
8 Explanation of the çark-ı felek style composition type Analysis of the composition in the style of the çark-ı felek.
9 Explanation of motif groups where the wheel of fortune style composition type is used Making pattern design in the çark-ı felek style composition type.
10 Definition and grouping of edge decorations applied in decorative arts. Application of single strip interfacing from edge decorations.
11 Theoretical explanation of single strip arasuyu from edge decorations. Continuing the same practice.
12 Theoretical explanation of the worm (ribbon) arasuyu from edge decorations. Application of ribbon (worm) interstitial water from edge decorations
13 Explanation of the usage areas of edge decorations. Applying the drawn lines onto tracing paper with a rapido pen.
14 Definition of auxiliary elements such as ruler, thread, lamb used in decorative arts Ribbon (worm) application from the edge decorations.
