19 Objective of the Course: This course covers how to use Orff instruments in education, technical features, application in school music and learning-teaching techniques of these instruments. In this course, especially the activities that will help students develop their musical reading, listening and playing with individual and group skills are aimed, as well as the ability to perform polyphonic melodies that can be used in Orff instruments and school music applications and to create a repertoire consisting of rhythm, movement and improvisation activities.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development To be able to use Orff instruments, which are school instruments, effectively and efficiently in the field of teaching profession
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To understand how to use Orff instruments in education;
2 To be able to recognize the technical features of Orff instruments;
3 To be able to use recorder, fretted and fretless percussion instruments and voice from the musical instruments used in music lessons in the school environment;
4 To be able to perform rhymes and songs that can be used in music lessons in school environment with Orff instruments;
5 To be able to create simple accompaniment arrangements with Orff instruments;
6 To be able to create repertoire from the pieces that can be played with Orff instruments;
7 To be able to comprehend learning and teaching techniques of Orff instruments;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Talking about the content of the course and expectations from the lesson, introducing the instruments to be used in the lesson and teaching new parts
2 Pompano by Paul Corbiere will be learned and instruments will be used for Orff instruments.
3 Pompano will continue to be practiced by adding improvisational exercises and the score will be examined.
4 Pompano will be repeated and Brent Hall's Jamaica Jazz will began to be practiced
5 Jamaica Jazz will continue to be practiced by adding improvisational exercises and the score will be examined.
6 A body percussion piece called Cape Carnaval Rondo by Jim Solomon will began to be practiced so we will start our body as an instrument.
7 Cape Carnaval Rondo will continue to be practiced and all the pieces that we learnt so far will be repeated
8 An anonymous African children's song “In a way Capuana” will be sung and accompanied by body percussion.
9 Examination of the accompaniment of the pieces composed for Orff instruments. alking about the Orff accompaniment arrangement techniques and giving information about their assignment of Orff arrangement. Group Assignment: Using educational music arrangement techniques spoken in the class, it is asked to select a piece together with the group and to make arrangement to that piece using Orff instruments and perform the piece in the class and at the concert.

Measurement and Evaluation Techniques Used in the Course Midterm Exam and Final Exam
Information Student performance is evaluated with the instrument evaluation form (rating scale) prepared by the instructor. Midterm Exam: Midterm exams of this course are carried out individually by the instructor and are evaluated with an instrument evaluation form (grading scale). Final Exams and Make-up Exams: The student is evaluated with a grading scale (instrument evaluation form) prepared by the instructor. Evaluation: School Instruments courses are evaluated in absolute terms on the basis of Bursa Uludağ University Associate Degree-Undergraduate Regulations in line with the decisions of the academic board. Absolute assesment will be used in the course.
