19 | Objective of the Course: | In this course, students will gain theoretical knowledge of polyphonic musical dictation as well as the ability to perceive and identify polyphonic textures, to perform horizontal and vertical (melody – chord) dictation, to perform musical analysis, to identify polyrhythmic structures and to analyze and perform sight reading on works written in modern music notation. In addition, students will be equipped with methods and techniques for teaching ear training in advanced level. |

3 | Modal music and its dictation, analysis and composition. | |
4 | Chords with three, four and five sounds and their analysis. | |
5 | Dictation in two or three sounds. | |
6 | Usage of Medieval church modes in the 20th century. Dictation, transposition and solfege with these modes. | |
7 | Accompaniment of solfege pieces with the piano. | |
8 | Methods and techniques of teaching ear training. | |
9 | Transposition exercises in different keys by reading, writing and playing. | |
10 | Exercises to advance analysis abilities. Dictation, analysis and composition in two, three and four sounds. | |
11 | Analysis of harmony and dictation in contemporary works. | |
12 | Dictation and analysis of works written with modern musical notation. Creative studies with this notation. | |
13 | Exercises to advance polyphonic analysis abilities and accompaniment with the piano. | |
14 | General revision. Writing-composing melodies for the purposes of teaching. |
