19 Objective of the Course: To have knowledge about the history of ceramic art and to get to know ceramic examples of periods and civilizations.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Determine which period and civilization a ceramic object belongs to, thanks to the visuals and examples shown in the course. Can distinguish ceramic shaping and decoration techniques.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Can analyze the initial information of ceramic art and the first ceramic finds in history.;
2 Can distinguish diversity of functions and forms across civilizations and geographies;
3 It integrates the aesthetic understanding of civilizations and periods in the field of ceramics with today's understanding of ceramics.;
4 Determine which period and civilization a ceramic object belongs to, thanks to the visuals and examples shown in the course.;

22 Course Content:

1 General civilization and art history stages with main headings. Explanation of basic concepts and terms.
2 Prehistoric Paleolithic, Neolithic ceramic features
3 Prehistoric Chalcolithic period ceramic features
4 Bronze age ceramics, their properties and areas of use
5 Ceramics of the Assyrian Trade Colonies period, their properties and areas of use ?
6 Old Hittite and Hittite Empire ceramics, their properties and areas of use
7 Late Hittite ceramics, their properties and areas of use
8 Phrygian ceramics and glass properties and usage areas. Urartian ceramic properties, areas of use. ?
9 Lydian period ceramic properties and areas of use. ?
10 Areas of use of ceramics in the Egyptian, Minoan, Mycenaean and Hellenistic periods. ?
11 Roman and Greek ceramic usage areas. Byzantine ceramic properties, areas of use ?
12 Birth of Porcelain in Europe
13 Meissen Porcelains, Wedgwood porcelain Sevres Porcelain Höchst porcelains, Hutschenreuther porcelain
14 After historical information about ceramic art, the information is reinforced with visual presentations.

Measurement and Evaluation Techniques Used in the Course In order to decide on the students' success in this course, 30% midterm exam, 10% homework and 60% final exam are given. The scores collected by each student at the end of the semester are compared with the course passing criteria in accordance with the Bursa Uludağ University Associate and Undergraduate Education Regulations sent by Uludağ University, and a success or failure decision is made for each student.
Information The results are determined by the letter grade determined by the absolute evaluation system.
