19 Objective of the Course: To recognize the language as a universal phenomenon; to introduce the concepts, methods, theories and theorists of linguistics, and to provide information about todays linguistics studies.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development This course contributes to associating theories of linguistics with language teaching at the theoretical and practical level.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Learns various definitions of language, gains general information about world languages;
2 Until the early 20th century, he/she can look at the language studies developed in the eastern and western traditions from a historical perspective.;
3 In the 20th century, the emergence of the concept of linguistics; knows the branches and fields of study of linguistics;
4 Comprehends Ferdinand De Saussure and Structuralist linguistic theory (Geneva School of Linguistics);
5 Understands the schools of linguistics that have adopted a structuralist approach (Prague School);
6 Understands French Functionalism (Andre Martinet);
7 Gustave Guillame and Psychomechanics, recognizes the Copenhagen School;
8 Understands Glosematic, American Structuralism (Franz Boas, Edward Sapir, Leonard Bloomfield, Zellig Sabbetai Harris);
9 Comprehends Noam Chomsky and Productive Transformational Grammar Theory, Linguistics Based Grammar Theories;
10 Relates the theories of linguistics to language teaching at the theoretical and practical level;
