19 Objective of the Course: The purpose of this class is to present both the theoretical and practical aspects of language acquisition. Within this context, emphasis will be placed on psycholinguistics too. Language acquisition period (process) Summarize, with all its aspects, how the language acquisition process happens.

1 Explains the language acquisition process;
2 Knows language acquisition approaches;
3 Can define the concept of psycholinguistics;
4 Can explain the working areas of psycholinguistics;
5 Can introduce the stages of the mother tongue acquisition process;
6 Can compare the difference between speech and language disorders;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Introducing the course content and resources. Linguistics and psycholinguistics.
2 Language acquisition and introduction of field-specific study topics: Research areas of psycholinguistics.
3 Interdisciplinary collaboration of psycholinguistics. Introducing the stages of language acquisition starting from how children acquired the language. Introducing the studies on systems (sound, meaning, form, etc.) on data collection methods and Turkish language acquisition (Gökmen, ADN).
4 Language acquisition. Language acquisition theories.
5 The conditions necessary for language acquisition to take place.
6 Features of language acquisition.
7 Language acquisition and early literacy: the acquisition of nominal and operational concepts.
8 Discussion on the first object and action concepts.
9 Observations on the preschool period: The road to literacy.
10 Usability principles and Acquisition (Gökmen, ADN).
11 Conceptual Limitations and Making Inferences with Conceptual Knowledge (Gökmen, ADN).
