19 Objective of the Course: To deal with all aspects of the Imamiyye school, which represents the main spine among the Shiite sects.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Provides the ability to reach and interpret information about the field of study.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 The student learns the main structure of Imamiye Shia, which is the second major school of Islamic tradition.;
2 Students learn the central position of Imamiyya Shia in Shia thought and the points where it differs from gulat sects.;
3 The student comprehends the historical development stages of Imamiyya Shiism and the differentiation in the process.;
4 Students comprehend the religious / political activities and engagements of Imami Shia during the Iran / Islamic revolution and the Arab Spring.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 The phenomenon of sect in Islamic culture
2 Islamic society after the Prophet and the first conflicts
3 The first discussions centered on the caliphate and the first reflections of the Sunni-Shia caliphate theories
4 The support of Ahl al-Bayt, the events of Jamal and Sıffin, the martyrdoms of Ali and Hussain
5 The evolution of the supportership of Ahl al-Bayt from a psychological ground to a political one
6 The development of systematic Shia thought, the construction of Nas and Tayin theory.
7 The Occultation Period and the rise of the Shiite Ulama
8 The Buwayhi period and its effects on the theoretical and practical construction of the Imami school
9 Religion-state relations and the rise of Shiism in the Ilkhanians period.
10 Safavid period, development of religion-state and ulama-state relations, construction of Shia as a state religion / sect, practical and political construction of Iran / Shia identity.
11 Political and cultural influences of the Safavid / Shia heritage
12 The main schools of Shia thought, the Usuli-Ahbari rivalry, the triumph of the Usuli thought.
13 The Iran-Islamic revolution and the new political medium of Shia / Imami thought.
14 The rise of Imami / Shia thought as a regional power during the Arab Spring.
