19 Objective of the Course: At the end of the curriculum, the student is expected to have acquired knowledge of the influence of Aristotle on Islamic thought in the twelfth and the methods of reading classical texts.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Aristotelian commentary, the approaches of philosopher and disputed problems will be handled in the historical order.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To examine whether Aristotelian commentators changed Aristotle’s main arguments in the process of transmission and commentary.;
2 To research the means used during the tranmission of Aristotelian philosophy to Muslim World.;
3 To analyze the influence of Aristotelian philosophy on Islamic thought in the wide historical area.;
4 To interpret the causes and results of the tradition of commentary in Islamic thought.;
5 To evaluate Averroes as a Aristotelian commentator, considering his influence on the history of thought.;
6 To discuss on the differences between Averroes and other commentators.;
7 To analyze Averroes’ approach to muslim philosophers’ views on Aristotle.;
8 To recognise Averroes’ views on the main subjects of metaphysics;
9 To analyze the intellectual structure of a period in which the main discussions took place.;
10 To evaluate Averroism in Latin thought.;
