19 Objective of the Course: The Basic Design I course is to give the student the right to observe the environment, discern and judge written learning, visual expression. Elements of art of all disciplines; point, line, shape, form, texture; and principles of art; It is aimed to provide students with common elements of visual arts such as balance, rhythm, movement, contrast, integrity, emphasis, and motifs, with products to be designed, thus helping students to prepare for their higher semester courses.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development This course gives prospective teachers the opportunity to experience the basic principles, concepts and methods of arts education. In addition, they can profit from their observations, impressions and expressions through art.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to define the basic art elements and principles;
2 To be able to apply basic art elements and principles with original designs;;
3 To be able to recognize various materials used in basic design;
4 Ability to develop creative suggestions in design creation;
5 To be able to design two and three dimensional original works by examining and associating works of art;
6 To be able to use technology in art research and artistic creation process;
7 To be able to make designs by establishing the relationship between basic art elements and principles and environment;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Informing and meeting students about the course process. Asking to design a poster for the next lesson introducing themselves using Web2 tools.
2 Presentation of the prepared posters by the students. Keeping the posters in an online environment accessible to all students.
3 Understanding basic design The scope and objectives of the basic design, the competencies to be acquired during the course
4 Design Elements Composition, point and line.
5 Design Elements Rhythm-Movement-Balance-Texture
6 Design Elements Color- Light-Shadow (Stain)
7 Design Elements Form-Size-Proportion
8 Design Elements Space-fullness-direction-perspective
9 Basic Design Principles Creating Balance-Rhythm-Harmony
10 Basic Design Principles Unity-Integrity-Harmony-Range-Dominance-Sovereignty-Measure Ratio
11 Design Activity 1: Creative Faces Students are asked to design creative faces using waste materials that they can reach. Case studies are shared online in an accessible environment.
12 Design Activity 2: Natural Mandala Students are asked to make a mandala from natural materials that they will collect from nature. The patterns created due to the variety of materials are expected to be in accordance with the design elements and principles in terms of aesthetics.
13 Design Activity 3: Three-Dimensional Book Students are expected to design a three-dimensional book for a story they will create uniquely. Three-dimensional book design examples are shared online in an accessible environment.
14 Design Activity 4: Three-dimensional Book Character Students are expected to design a three-dimensional character of a story of their own write.
