19 Objective of the Course: To be able to establish major and minor chords in 4 parts, to create accompaniment models in the piano by using the main chords in root and inversion positions, and to make harmonic analysis of the appropriate works.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Students taking the course will have knowledge of Western music theory and harmony. They can harmonize melodies, create simple accompaniment models.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to write triads in four parts in the root position;
2 To be able to establish chords in close and open spacing and distinguish them;
3 To be able to write chords in root position with 3rd, 5th, and 8th in soprano. ;
4 To be able to make connections with and without common notes. ;
5 To be able to establish chords in first inversion;
6 To be able to make the connections of a root chord with a chord in first inversion;
7 To be able to make chord connections in first inversion of different functions. ;
8 Understanding the passing six-four chord, its function and making connections using the chord;
9 Understanding the pedal six-four chord, its function and making connections using the chord;
10 Understanding the cadential six-four chord, its function and making connections using the chord;

2 Soprano symbols in four-part harmony
3 Establishing chords with the 3rd, 5th or 8th in soprano
4 Four part (SATB) chords in close spacing
5 Four part (SATB) chords in open spacing
6 Changing soprano between 3rd, 5th, and 8th of the chord of same function.
7 Common and non-common tone connections between I-V and I-V functions.

9 Changing spacing (open-close) between different functions.
10 Chords in first inversions and their connections to chords in root position.
11 Connections of first inversion chords to each other.

Measurement and Evaluation Techniques Used in the Course Midterm Exam: The students' understanding of the subjects at the entrance level is determined with an exam that includes short answer questions for creating chords and connecting the chords. Final Exams and Make-up Exams: It is required to harmonize the given soprano or bass party and to write the appropriate codes under the chords.
Information Assessment and evaluation technique: By asking short-answer questions and harmonized questions for creating chords and connecting the chords, the student's level of making the tune into four parts using what he learned is evaluated. Evaluation: In line with the decisions of the academic board, it is evaluated on the basis of Bursa Uludağ University Associate Degree-Undergraduate Regulation.
