19 Objective of the Course: To gain basic behaviours in playing piano; finger exercises, scale and cadence exercises, staccato and legato technique, sight reading exercises, contrary motion and parallel scales and five finger exercises; to comprehend the methods that would be followed while practicing etudes and pieces; To apply dynamics, phrasing and doing applied studies to, to play etudes and pieces appropriate to his/her level.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Being able to use the major instrument effectively in the field of teaching profession.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Able to comprehend the basic knowledge and skills related to playing the piano.;
2 Able to do five finger exercises and provide coordination between two hands.;
3 Being able to play contrary motion scales.;
4 Able to comprehend Legato and Staccato techniques.;
5 Able to play C Major contrary motion scale; 2 octaves C Major, A minor, G Major, E Minor parallel scales, arpeggios, chord inversions and cadences. ;
6 Able to sight read the pieces appropriate to his/her level.;
7 Able to play etudes and ornaments appropriate to their level.;
8 Able to apply dynamics and phrases.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Sight reading the notes of treble clef and C clef.
2 Coordination between the two hands. Vertical reading.
3 Comprehending the Legato technique.
4 Comprehending the Staccato technique.
5 Using legato and staccato techniques together.
6 Playing C Major, A minor parallel scales, arpeggios, chords, cadences; C Major contrary motion scale. Sight reading the etude which is appropriate to his/her level.
7 Analysing the etude which is appropriate to its level.
8 Playing G Major parallel scales, arpeggios, chords, cadences. Performing the etude.
9 Sight reading and analysing the piece. Playing E Minor parallel scales, arpeggios, chords, cadences.
10 Sight reading and analysing the piece.
11 Sight reading and analysing the polyphonic piece.
12 Performing the polyphonic piece considering to its technique.
13 Comprehending the methods that would be followed while practicing etudes and pieces.
14 Reviewing studies that include behaviours on topics learned during the semester.

Measurement and Evaluation Techniques Used in the Course Student performance is evaluated with the instrument evaluation form (grading scale) by the instructor in the midterm exam, and is evaluated by the commission members with the same form at the end of the semester.
Information Major instrument training courses are evaluated in absolute terms on the basis of Bursa Uludağ University Associate Degree-Undergraduate Regulations in line with the decisions of the academic board.
