19 Objective of the Course: To teach the content, methodology and method to be followed in resource application while researching Islamic sects.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development The content of the course is aimed at contributing to develop of scientist qualifications of the students
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Students learn which methodology to follow and which sources to apply while researching classical Islamic sects.;
2 Students learn how to use the sources in research on sects and how to eliminate the subjective weaknesses in the sources.;
3 students understand the importance of fieldwork and participatory observation in research on sects with esoteric character.;
4 Students comprehend the use of sects as a social engineering tool in the context of religion-state relations and their efforts to instrumentalize sects.;

7 Leading ideas of Khawaric, Mutezile, Sunnism and Shiism The construction period of the theological schools
8 Political patronage and its effects on the spread and contraction of sects
9 Development of major schools of thought, construction of basic texts and doctrines
10 the parallel reading in the field of history of islamic sects
11 Sociological effects of sectarian identities, Field studies and Participant observation
12 Basic approaches in sectarian studies with esoteric character, Text, Field studies.
13 Formation of sect-based religious groups, analysis of their sociological effects and propaganda mechanisms.
14 Modern period religion-state relations, instrumentalization of sectarian identities in the political plane, sects' search for power
