19 Objective of the Course: This course is in line with the introduction of the methods and techniques used in piano teaching to improve the skills of preservice music teachers to teach the piano instrument. It is aimed to provide music teacher candidates with different perspectives for learning and teaching environments in piano teaching, and to enable them to discover different ways of thinking about contemporary piano education.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to comprehend the techniques and methods used in piano beginner stage;
2 To be able to use the techniques and methods used in the piano initial stage;
3 To be able to understanding the development of Piano Pedagogy in the world.;
4 To be able to Know the historical process of piano education in Turkey.;
5 To be able to have knowledge about the psychological dimension of piano teaching.;
6 To be able to know the characteristics of a good piano teacher;;
7 To be able to distinguish the beginning method books used in the piano initial stage according to their characteristics;
8 To be able to develop visual materials that can be used in piano teaching at the beginning stage of piano.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Giving information about the course content. Distribution of research homework on issues to be determined regarding piano education.
2 Reviewing the historical process of the development of piano pedagogy in the world.
3 Reviewing the historical process of the development of piano pedagogy Turkey and introducing the historical process of institutions that provide piano education in Turkey.
4 Discussing the characteristics of a good piano instructor, understanding what their duties and goals are.
5 Discussing the cognitive, physical and psychological development of children aged 6-8 for the piano beginner stage.
6 Discussing the correct physical posture (sitting, hand, arm, wrist, finger position) at the beginning stage of the piano tarining and discussing the ways to follow according to the starting age. skills.
7 Discussing the ways to improve the ability of reading notes in the beginning stage of playing the piano and the methods that can be used to improve sight reading.
8 Developing visual materials that can be used in piano teaching at the beginning stage of the piano
9 Keyboard recognition in piano initial stage. Discussing the methods that can be applied to play without looking the keyboard.
10 Examining the starting method books that can be used in the piano beginning stage. Grouping methods according to age of young players and specific characteristics
11 Examining the international and Turkish method books that begins in C position C-G position.
12 Examining the method books starting with different positions.
13 Presenting the homework given at the beginning of the semester.
14 Semester repetition and evaluation.
