19 Objective of the Course: Providing students with media terminology and media language which constitutes one of the major important parts of modern Arabic; enabling them to use mass media instruments easily and fast.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Recognizes modern Arabic through media texts and becomes familiar with modern styles and usages.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Making the students comprehend the particular rules of the News Language and the News Headings ;
2 Attracting students’ attention to the fact that newspaper headings have always short, impressive and striking words. ;
3 Making students aware of the popular, most used verbs and the way how these verbs are used in the media language.;
4 Attracting students’ attention to the most common starting sentences and patterns used in the Media Language . ;
5 Showing the students how to understand properly and fast a News Text by translating some samples from the Arabic Media..;
6 Building a specific repertoire of the News Language’s terminology. ;
7 Building a sufficient background for KPDS which generally contains samples of media news. ;
8 Benefitting from the audio-visual media sources sufficiently and wholesome. ;
9 Getting the internet vocabulary in a sufficient level ;
10 Making quick-surf by means of media language experience;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Get to know the main actions taken by a reporter when transmitting the News
2 Following the cliché starting sentences on News transmissions through sample News Texts
3 Showing the basic templates used to express the visits, the period and the purposes of these visits of the Head of the states, leaders of political parties etc
4 Noticing the sentence patterns for these kind of visits and being able to use them in the sentences
5 Recognizing the main components of a sentence (subject, object, verb etc.) in a long sentence full of conjunctions; practicing them in sample paragraphs
6 Sending or giving messages to different authorities through media; making these written or verbal messages.
7 Showing the patterns used to describe the meetings of the Government’s men
8 Introducing the structure of TEMME+MASTAR in the Media Language, doing exercises on sample sentences about it
9 To understand and focus on the structures of KEMÂ, RAĞME ENNE, HAYSU, ZÂLİKE LİENNE and KULL MİN which are used to bind long paragraphs
10 To recognize the basic terms which form the source of the News like: news agencies, news coming from ..., information provided by the media (...), non-official sources, independent observers, the government spokesman, official who doesn’t want to be named, reliable source etc.
11 Introducing the elementary Arabic terms of business like: do a meeting, suspend, cancel, discuss, negotiate, signing the agreement etc.
12 Do proper exercises about the double date usage ( Hijri and Gregorian) in the Arabic Media
13 Learning the technical terms and expressions found when searching on the internet
14 To achieve the ability of fast surfing the newspapers, magazines, televisions etc. on the internet
