19 Objective of the Course: The aim of this course is to teach the definition and history of handball , the rules of the game , handball warm-up , all the basic techniques of handball with and without the ball , the definition and classification of tactics in handball , offensive and defensive tactics , game systems , theoretically and practically. At the same time , it is to provide knowledge and skills about how to teach a school team , club team , theoretically and practically.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Have a high level of knowledge of the rules of the game , basic technical and tactical knowledge and offensive defense systematics in the handball branch. He / she can train a team in the handball branch at club and school level.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Student knows the definition of handball and does explanations about history of handball.;
2 Student understands the game rules. Student is respectful to the referee’s decisions.;
3 Student can apply the basic technical skills of handball.;
4 Student can comprehend the tactic applications of handball.;
5 Student can play handball gentlemanly. ;
6 Student can move with more healthy structure thanks to handball exercises. Student does the warming-up exercises before playing handball;
7 Student uses trainer skills beter during the training.;
8 Student does positive criticisms as a good handball viewer.;
9 Student uses the basic skills of handball effectively for psychosocial developments of students..;
10 Student can teach the technique and tactic subjects of handball with appropriate teaching techniques.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Meeting. General and specific explanations about lesson. The aim(s) and subjects of lesson and competencies. Importance of handball in Turkey and world. History of handball Students learn general informations about handball by searching the resources.
2 Game rules of handball Students gain the ability of doing practice about game rules.
3 Passes that are used in handball. Basic pass (with and without side steps), snap pass (inner wrist- outer wrist), catching and crashing in handball. Students can apply the basic passes and catching and crashing exercises.
4 Passes that are used in handball. Jump pass, bouncing pass, back hand pass, chest pass, neck pass, shovel pass, dribbling. Students can practice the Jump pass, bouncing pass, back hand pass, chest pass, neck pass, shovel pass, dribbling.
5 Goal kickes that are used in handball. Basic goal kickes (high basic goal kickes- hip height basic goal kick- low basic goal kick) Students can practice basic goal kickes (high basic goal kickes- hip height basic goal kick- low basic goal kick)
