19 Objective of the Course: The aim of this course is to help students who are future teachers to understand child psychology and to help them understand the importance of mental health.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Future teachers deal with children and adolescents at pre-school, primary, secondary and high school levels. For this reason, it is very important that they understand child psychology.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 The students can describe the basic concepts of child psychology and explain the historical development of this field.;
2 Can recognize children's personality and self characteristics.;
3 Can explain emotional, social, sexual, cognitive and physical development of children.;
4 Can understand and explain emotional and behavioral problems in children.;
5 Gains knowledge and skills about child psychology and mental health.;
6 Can explain childhood adaptation problems from a developmental perspective.;
7 Can know what to do for behavioral problems in children and can take action.;
8 When faced with a problem, can try different solutions.;
9 Gains knowledge and skills about the characteristics and education of children with special needs.;
10 Understands the importance of individual differences and approaches each child in this context.;

4 Studying development: Physical development
5 Theoretical approaches to development: Emotional development / Freud, Erikson)
6 Cognitive development (Piaget, Vygotsky)
7 Social development (Erikson, Kohlberg)
8 Sexual development (Freud)
9 Immediate environment of child:Family, friend and teacher
10 The importance of play in childhood and game theories
11 Interest of children: Painting, music, sports, books etc.
12 Adaptation and behavioral disorders in the children
13 Approach to problem children
14 Summarizing the lesson and general evaluation
