19 Objective of the Course: The aim of this course is to explain the differences between natural sciences and social sciences. To have knowledge about the birth and development of sociology; to explain the relationship between education and sociology; to raise awareness about the contribution of sociology to education and its contribution to understanding and solving educational problems. ; to gain the general purpose and philosophy of sociology, giving the students the basic concepts and principles of sociology, to show the relationship and connection between sociology and education and giving awareness of the importance of the relationship between them.

1 Defining the basic concepts of sociology and sociology of education ;

2 Basic concepts in sociology and sociology of education, fields of study.relationship to other sciences
3 The birth and development of educational sociology: contributions in Turkey in the World, Republican period.
4 Paradigms of sociology of education: functionalist, confrontational, critical paradigm
5 Social foundations of education: relationship between education and society, socialization, individualization, social categories
6 Social structure and education: status, social role
7 Social stratification and education: slavery, caste, feudal groups, social classes, Turkish societies and collective stratification
8 Education as a socialization institution: School and social environment, family as a socialization environment
9 Social behavior patterns and education: social norms, values, social mobility
10 Social change and education
11 Culture and education, multiculturalism and education
12 Phenomenon of equality of educational opportunity
