General Description
Turkish Language Teaching Department, as a unit of Education Faculty, trains Turkish teachers for secondary stage classes of elementary schools. The Department started to educate and teach at the year of 1993. The studies that conducted under the title of “The Reorganization of Teacher Training Programs of Education Faculties”, namely 8 year basic education application, started with the date of 16.08.1997 and the number of 4306, at 1997-1998 academic year. The package program prepared by YÖK, started to be applied at 1998-1999 academic in our faculty as in other education faculties. Since 2003-2004 academic year, an initiative started to construct a more dynamic program at Turkish Education Class Program by gradual improvements.
Turkish Education Department is subject to 90-120 ECTS credits for master degree, 180-240 ECTS credits for doctorate degree, 120 ECTS credits for master at night education (without dissertation); second grade degree system at master education and three grade degree system at doctorate education is applied. When the program is successfully completed and program competencies are maintained, a master or doctorate degree at Turkish Education Field is gained.

Specific Admission Requirements
Admission conditions for master degree
1- Bachelor Degree Certificate
2- To have enough score from Graduate Eeducation Entering Exam (ALES). (The score is valid within 3 year. For Economics, Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology and Public Law departments Math-Language score is required, for Theology, Turkish Language and Literature, Archaeology, History of Art, History departments Language Arts score is required and these scores must be at least 55. For foreign students, certificates which are valid internationally (GRE, GMATİ etc.) are accepted and there is no minimum score condition.)
3- To have enough foreign language competency. (At least 50 from Uüds, Üds, and Kpds, at least 50 from TOEFL IBT, at least 130 from TOEFL CBT, at least 450 from TOEFL PBT, or other same degree exams can be accepted. From foreign students a Tömer certificate, which shows they know Turkish, is wanted.)

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
For master education, minimum 21 maximum and maximum 28 credit (for with dissertation 24, for without dissertation 16 are accepted), for doctorate minimum 24 and maximum 30 (for with dissertation 24 is accepted.) A student who has completed all credits and have at least 70 for master and 75 for doctorate from 100 score system and who has written and presented his dissertation in front of the jury successfully is given Master/Doctorate certificate.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Our graduates primarily can be appointed as Turkish Teachers to the secondary stage classes of elementary schools of National Education Ministry if they can obtain enough score from that year’s KPSS exam. Additionally, our graduates can work at private elementary schools and at private education institutions.

Access to Further Studies
Students which successfully completed undergraduate education, if they get enough score from ALES exam and have enough foreign language competency, can have education at master and doctorate programs.

All exams are assessed according to 100 score. A student must get at least 70 score from final exam. Students that get AA; BA; CB; and CC letter scores from any lesson are accepted to be successful at that lesson.

Graduation Requirements
For master
To complete the program successfully, all lessons existed in the program must be completed (90-120 ECTS) and the dissertation must be accepted by the jury.
For doctorate
To complete the program successfully, a student must complete all lessons existed in the program (90-120 ECTS), must be successful at competency exam, must complete professional lessons successfully, must publish an article at an scientific magazine and the dissertation must be accepted by the jury.

Turkish Education Department, carry on its education and teaching activities with a total of 6 scholar, 3 assistant professors and 3 lecturer doctors. Additionally, department’s teaching personnel contribute to the education of other departments by entering lessons which is within their academic field. Teaching personnel, in addition to their lecturing, conduct primarily post graduate studies and other activities such as research and projects.
