Anesthesia program started to provide education at associate degree level in 2001.

Specific Admission Requirements
Acceptance to the Vocational Schools of Health is made according to the Higher Education Transfer Examination (YGS) / Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) score made by Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM). The student quota for the 2017-2018 academic year is 62. In case when the quota is left open, students are taken by OSYM with additional placement according to YGS-2 score.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to have an associate degree upon completion of the anaesthesia program, the students at the program must complete all of the courses which are compulsory and elective (equal to 120 AKTS in total) and have a general weighted grade average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the program is to train Anaesthesia Technicians who have the faculty of improving and updating their skills and abilities in their field, and have improved the skills and knowledge of performing their duties and responsibilities proper to legal frames and ethic rules in the teams at the anaesthesia applications for special patients and operations to fallow and keep records of vital functions during the applications, to prepare and use the necessary equipment for the anaesthesia and analgesia applications, to prepare the patients before the operations in the Reanimation and Anaesthesiology units of health institutions and organizations. The program´s period of study is four semesters (including internship) The internship lasts 30 work days at the end of the fourth semester.

1. Professionally evaluate and apply the knowledge gained through the theoretical and applied courses which are at the base level aided with visual and practical resources, and application tools and course notes including the applications in the field of anaesthesia.
2. Perform every step of the general anaesthesia application, identify and intervene in possible complications.
3. Perform monitored patient care, sedo/ analgesia applications, standard equipment applications of anaesthesia out of surgery, and patient preparation and monitoring.
4. Are aware of the necessity that the vital functions of the patient must be monitored and the related anaesthesia forms must be completed, and record them regularly.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduates work as "Anaesthesia Technician" in public and private health institutions and organizations. Their employment fields are Surgeries and units under the Surgeries of public and private inpatient treatment institutions under the Health Ministry, and they work in line with the directives of the doctors. They can be appointed as Health Technicians in accordance with the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS).

Access to Further Studies
The students of Anaesthesia program can be transferred to the undergraduate programs of "Nursing Care", "Emergency Service and Disaster Management", and "Nursing and Health Services" via the External Transfer Examination (DGS).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Every student must sign up for the courses at the beginning of the semester, and attend at least 70 % of the classes and 80 % of the applications to be able to sit for the semester end examination. Students must sit for at least 1 mid-term exam and 1 semester end examination for each course. The mid-term exam (grades that will be resulted from the following evaluation means of a homework assignment, application exam, laboratory exam, seminar presentation or quiz may well be added to the evaluation of the mid-term grades) contributes 40 % percent and the semester end examination contributes 60 % to the calculation of the success grade. Every examination is evaluated over 100 points. It is compulsory to have at least 50 points from the semester end examination. The pass grade of a course is at least 50 points, and the success of a class is evaluated via Relative Evaluation System. The students who take the grades of AA, BA, BB, CB and CC from a course become successful at the course. The grades of DC and DD are conditional pass grades. In order to become successful at a course that a student takes, he or she has to have at least 2.00 general weighted grade average (GANO) when graduating from the school.

Graduation Requirements
In order to complete the program with success, a student has to pass (equal to 120 AKTS) all of the courses exist in the program, and have at least 2.00 over 4.00 general weighted grade average, and complete the 30 work day internship at the end of the second year with success.

Facilities
Education Language is Turkish, and the quota is 62 students. It does not have a preparation and an evening program. The classes are taught at the classrooms of the school and the classrooms of U.U. Medicine Faculty Anaesthesiology and Reanimation Department. The applications are performed at the surgeries of Health Application and Research Centre.
