The theme of the "Doctorate" programs is generally adopted on a ´problem oriented´ basis while considering the whole historical process of philosophy in sight. On the other hand, even though the doctorate program allow for all subjects covering all the eras of the history of philosophy, the program mainly covers the lessons of continental philosophy.

After the doctorate programme of 240 ECTS has been completed and the qualifications of the programme have been provided, doctorate degree is taken in the Division of Philosophy.

Third Cycle

1- Master diploma 2- Sufficient points from (ALES) Selection Examination for Academic Personnel and Graduate Studies (its validity is 3 years and at least 55 points in equally-weighted type. For foreigners ALES certificate and international certificates (GRE, GMAT etc.) are valid and points condition is not necessary). 3- Adequate foreign language skills (at least 55 points from UÜDS, KPDS, ÜDS (English, French, German, Arabic), at least 55 points from TOEFL IBT at least 134 points from TOEFL CBT, at least 453 points from TOEFL PBT and other equal exams, foreigners must have Turkish certification from Tömer excluding students who train in Turkey). 4) ALES %50 + Undergraduate Grade Point Average %15 + Foreign Language %15 + Interview %20 = Candidates are arranged according to their points and are accepted starting from the first according to the quota. 5-For foreingers: ALES %50 + Undergraduate Grade Point Average %25 + Interview %25 = Candidates are arranged according to their points and are accepted starting from the first according to the quota.

The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

In the beginning of the semester every student has to register to the course he wants to participate. In order to take the final exams of the semester, the student has to take %70 of the course. For each course the students must take at least one final exam. All examinations are evaluated over 100 points. The students have to get at least 75 points in the final exam in Master programme. The students who receive the grades AA, BA, BB and CB in a course are considered as successful.

Aim of the Division of Philosophy is to educate graduates who can recognize the problem areas of philosophy with accoutrements of history of philosophy, who think abstract therefore, can converge with philosophical view to the cultural, social and ethical problems of our age, which criticize, pose questions, discontent with problems and seek solutions, who have awareness of responsibility.
