Political Science and Public Administration
General Description
The master´s program of Public Administration is founded in 1982 within The Graduate School of Social Sciences. The name of the program was changed to "Political Science and Public Administration" in 2016.
Master´s program of Political Science and Public Administration is composed of four sub-fields. They are:
-Political and Social Sciences
-Administrative Sciences
-Urbanization and Environmental Problems
-Law.
The graduate program of Political Science and Public Administration is subject to a system of 120 ECTS credits of workload for both the thesis and the non-thesis master´s degree as the second cycle qualifications. When the program is completed successfully, master´s degree is achieved in the field of Political Science and Public Administration.

Specific Admission Requirements
1- Bachelor`s degree in Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Political Sciences or Faculty of Law,
2- Candidates should have the required score from the postgraduate education entrance exam (PEEE) (the equiponderant score should be 55 the minimum). The PEEE score document and internationally accepted documents (GRE, GMAT etc.) are required for foreign students without any score clause.
3-Candidates should score a minimum of 50 in the accepted exams (YDS /e-YDS / YÖKDİL).
4-Foreign students (apart from those who have studied in Turkey) are required to have the TÖMER documents proving that they have sufficient proficiency of Turkish language.
- PEEE 50% + UNDERGRADUATE SUCCESS AVARAGE 20% + WRITTEN/INTERVIEW 30% = Candidates are ranked according to the weighted total score that they have earned from the general assessment and students are admitted according to the quota starting with the candidate with the highest score (Minimum score of 65 must be obtained for a passing grade).
For Foreign Students UNDERGRADUATE SUCCESS AVARAGE 50% + WRITTEN/INTERVIEW 50%=Candidates are ranked according to the weighted total score that they have earned from the general assessment and students are admitted according to the quota starting with the candidate with the highest score.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students who fulfill the below requirements are awarded with the master´s degree in Political Science and Public Administration:
- To take courses having a total ECTS workload of 120 and to be successful from these courses,
- Condition of success for the courses is to get a score of 70 over 100,
- To successfully defend the master´s thesis in front of a jury.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the master´s program in Political Science and Public Administration is to provide the graduates with the opportunities for specialization in the fields of political and social sciences, administrative sciences, urbanization and environmental problems and law, which constitute the sub-departments of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration. Furthermore, the program targets to train academics and professionals who are capable of comprehending the main theoretical discussions in the above mentioned fields, following the current developments and of conducting scientific research as well as adopting an analytical thinking perspective.
The duration of the master´s program in Political Science and Public Administration is two years. In the first year of the program the students are offered compulsory courses in the main fields of political and social sciences, administrative sciences, urbanization and environmental problems and law as well as elective courses which can be taken from other graduate programs. The second year of the program is dedicated to the thesis projects of the students. In order to support these projects, all four semesters of the program include courses on specialized issues of the main sub-fields as well as seminar courses on students´ thesis projects.

Being able to analyze and resolve the problems encountered in the field of political science and public administration by combining the field knowledge with those obtained from other disciplines and to evaluate the findings of such analyses.

Being able to plan, independently carry out and publish studies related to the field of political science and public administration.

Being able to develop new strategic approaches and generate solutions by taking on responsibility in the practices related with political science and public administration.

Being able to make the critical analysis, synthesis and the evaluation of new and complicated ideas in the field of political science and public administration.

Being able to present current developments and own studies concerning the field of political science and public administration in oral, written and visual forms to those groups within and outside the public administration world.

Being able to use the information and communication technologies at an advanced level together with different software as required by the field of political science and public administration.

Being able to speak at least a foreign language and keep up with a foreign literature in the field of political science and public administration.

By paying regard to social, scientific and ethical values, being able to instruct and supervise these values in studies related to the field of political science and public administration.

Main institutions offering employment opportunities for the graduates of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration are:
-Public and private universities
-Prime Ministry and Ministries and their inspection boards and other affiliated institutions at the levels of undersecretary and general directorate.
-Other public institutions,
-Special Provincial Administrations,
-Municipalities and other institutions affiliated with Local Governments,
-Public and Private Banks,
-Private Sector Institutions and Multinational Corporations.

Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed the master´s program can access to PhD. programs as long as they meet with acceptance criteria for the related PhD. programs.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Each student has to register for the classes at the beginning of the term, and she/ he has to attend at least 70% of the classes to be able to enter the final exam. Students are required to have at least one final exam in each term for each of the courses. Final exams are assessed over a total of 100. She/he must get a minimum of 70 as the final examination grade in the second cycle. A student is successful if she/he receives AA, BA, BB, CB and CC as the letter grade from a class.

Graduation Requirements
In order to complete the programme requirements, students have to be successful from a course load having a total 120 ECTS and to defend their master thesis and be qualified by the jury.

The education language of the master´s program in Political Science and Public Administration is Turkish. There is a library, a reading room and a computer room with an open access to the students.
The teaching staff of the programme is comprised of 13 instructors including 5 professors, 3 associate professor, 4 assistant professors and 1 lecturer with a doctoral degree. Besides, there are 7 research assistants and 8 project assistants.
