General Description
Animal Science Department of Faculty of Agriculture of Bursa Uludag University was established in 1981. The first cycle (Bachelor) education was started in 1982 and the graduate and post graduate educations (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) were started in 1984. The Department is composed of three sections as Animal Husbandry, Feeds and Animal Nutrition and Biometry and Genetics.
Animal Science Department has the first cycle system of 240 ECTS credits on animal science field. The students completed four years of first cycle education with success are awarded with license diploma in animal science field.

Specific Admission Requirements
Candidates should have high school or equivalent school diploma and adequate score from University Entrance exam performed by Turkish Higher Education Council.
In addition, there is no exam entrance from undergraduate completion programs.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to receive bachelor degree
The program students should complete all core and elective courses (totally 240 ECTS equivalent) with success and obtain at least 2.0 out of 4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) in order to obtain a license degree in Animal Science field.
In order to receive MSc degree
The students completed at least 21 credits of courses (equivalent to 60 ECTS) of the program or related programs with minimum 70 out of 100 weighted average and defending successfully the thesis about related field of the subject in front of an elected jury deserve M.Sc. degree in Animal Science.
In order to receive doctoral degree (PhD)
At least 24 credits of courses (equivalent to 60 ECTS) of the program or related programs are required to complete and successfully with 75 out of 100. The student should also defend a thesis of the subject successfully in front of an elected jury for PhD. Degree.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of Animal Science department of Agriculture Faculty of Bursa Uludag University is educating zootechnics / Agriculture Engineer who comprehends situation and problems on agriculture and animal science fields and to solve the problems design and manage national and international projects in the frame of professional ethics.
Among its priority aims there are also conducting undergraduate and graduate education of the students and information support to public and private sectors.
Main working areas of Animal Science department of production, breeding, feeding, and genetically improvement of livestock have economic importance.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduates have possibilities to work in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and corresponded institutions, agricultural research institutes agricultural cooperatives, producers associations, small ruminants, large ruminants, and poultry farms, animal feed sector, and the foundation service in biotechnology area, several financial foundations, and municipalities, private sector establishments dealing with animal production, import and export. Besides, they can establish private farms and work as academicians at the universities.

Access to Further Studies
The students who complete first cycle education can apply for MSc and PhD program if they have adequate score from ALES and foreign language examinations.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
All of the students have to renew the registration to courses and to take the examination while they have to attend at least 70% of theoretical courses, at least 80% of practices. The students are performed at least one midterm examination and one final examination. Contributions of midterm examination and the other evaluation tools (homework, project, laboratory examinations, quiz, etc measure tools can be included to evaluation process) to achievement score is calculated as 50%, and that of final examination is calculated as 50%. All of the exams are evaluated over 100. There are an obligation as obtain 30 score from final exam. Raw achievement score to be also at least 50. A student who obtains one of the AA, BA, BB, CB or CC letter score is considered as successful for the course. DC and DD are conditional achievement scores. In order to a student who has DC or DD considered as successful for the course, his/her Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) to be at least 2.0 at his/her graduation stage.

Graduation Requirements
To complete the program, they are required to pass all of the courses (equivalent to 240 ECTS), obtain at least 2.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) out of 4.00 and complete the final study with success.
