Brief History
After its foundation in 1994, the department of Psychology of the Arts and Science at Bursa Uludag University provided some courses for the students of other departments within the Faculty. In 2000, the department enrolled its first undergraduate students. In 2001, the department began to accept students after they had attended English language preparation class. The department’s first bachelor’s degrees were awarded to the students in 2004.In addition, Bursa Uludag University Department of Psychology provides 30% English education.

Qualification Awarded
The Department of Psychology is subjected to the first cycle degree system with 240 ECTS credits in higher education in the Science of Psychology. Bachelor degree is awarded to students who successfully fulfilled all program requirements.

Having a high school (or equivalent) diploma and getting acceptable scores on YKS–the exams held by ÖSYM.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to have a bachelor degree in Psychology, a student should be successful in all compulsory and elective courses in the undergraduate program (i.e., having a total of 240 ECTS) and his/her GPA should be at least 2.00 over 4.00.

Profile of The Programme
Bursa Uludag University Psychology Department aims at creating a scientific context that makes it possible for students to have access to global knowledge accumulation in psychology, and for graduates to share this knowledge; question it and contribute to it. The Department also aims at having graduates internalized the universally accepted professional ethic values and principles while taking local issues into consideration.

1. Having knowledge on the development of psychology as a scientific discipline; gaining historical perspectives on how behavioral and mental processes have been examined and how scientific research methodology has been adopted.
2. Having knowledge about basic trends in psychology and their main emphasis; being able to compare several theoretical approaches and perspectives in psychology; being able to evaluate the contributions and limitations of each of them.
3. Being able to compare psychology with other disciplines in terms of basic assumptions, methods and the main levels of analyses; being able to describe contributions of psychology to other disciplines and perspectives of interdisciplinary approaches.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Undergraduates of the Psychology Department receive a "Bachelor of Psychology" degree. Those who have this degree can work in public and private hospitals, kindergartens, special education and rehabilitation centers, industry institutions, counseling centers, police departments, judicial institutions (family courts, prisons and detention houses), psychotechnics laboratories with the title of "psychologist". There are also opportunities to work in institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education after meeting necessary conditions. On the other hand, graduate programs (master and PhD) of subfields of psychology (such as clinical psychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, neuropsychology) are especially recommended for undergraduates in terms of ethical, personal, and scientific development.

Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can enroll in master´s and doctorate programs after getting a valid grade from the ALES exam and having sufficient foreign language knowledge.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
To take a course and be subject to its assessment procedures, students should register that course and get approval of his/her advisor at the beginning of semester. They should get a midterm and a final exam for each course at least. When necessary, the course coordinator could ask for additional methods of assessment such as homework, short exam/quiz, presentation and report writing. Kinds of assessment methods and their impact rate on course grade at the end of semester are informed to the students in the first weeks of a semester. As a requisite of regulations, the impact rate of final exam to the course grade at the end of semester should be 50 %. Students should attend at least 70% of the courses. All assessments are conducted over 100. Similarly, in line with another requisite of regulations, a student should get 50 at least in the final exam. Furthermore, a student is accepted as successful, if s/he gets letter grades such as AA, BA, BB, CB and CC from a course at the end of semester. Grades of DC and DD are viewed as conditional success; for those who take these conditional grades, GPA should be 2.00 over 4.00 at least to be accepted as successful in a course. If the course is compulsory and a student takes FD and FF, s/he should re-register that course when it is served in the following first semester. On the other hand, if the course is elective, a student may take another elective course and replace it with a new course.

Graduation Requirements
Successful completion of all compulsory and elective courses in the undergraduate program; having a total of 240 ECTS and receiving a GPA score 2.00 or better.

Facilities
The Department of Psychology has 3 professors, 1 associate professors, 4 assistant professors, 1 lecturer and 11 research assistants in full time positions who enrolled in Experimental Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social psychology and Applied Psychology as subdisciplines. In addition to compulsory and elective courses with regard to emotional, cognitive and behavioral processes and valid-current methods of scientific analysis of these areas, there are some other courses in the undergraduate program from disciplines of philosophy, sociology, history, economy and biology with aim of providing different perspectives to students. The students also have some extra opportunities. To illustrate, the department has an Applied Psychology Laboratory designed for education, training and research activities for students. Students may also study abroad for one or two semesters in the Erasmus Student Exchange Program. Besides, students may benefit from optional internship practicum which can be recorded to their transcripts
