19 Objective of the Course: To teach to the students how the Russians came out as a state and nation, conquered Turkic and Islamic countries in Asia and became an European and world state, beginning with the Kievan Rus’ and the Mongolian Invasion in the 13th century.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 They, can comprehend the process from a tribal to governmental case.;
2 be aware of that how the Christianity plays role actively during the formation of a state.;
3 can follow what the Russians learn from the Turks and Mongols.;
4 will learn why and how the Russians obtained the territories in Eurasia and Asia firstly, becoming an East European tribe.;
5 will learn roles of the periods of Petro the Great and Katerina the Great in the process of becoming a modern, expantionalist and European state of Russia.;
6 will learn how during some critical and hard periods the Russians recovered themselves.;
7 can see a lot of erraneous attitudes of Turco-Tatarian states, and European helps to the Russians during the growing of Russia.;
8 will learn how so big empire was collapsed and was found a new state.;
9 be able to see some roles in becoming a state and nation of the ideas of Socialism and Communism. ;

2 Origin of the word Slav, the Slavians, geography of the Slavs and classification of the Slavs
3 The Kievan Rus’ (882-972) and period of Svyatoslav (962-972); relations of Slavs and Russians with Wolga-Bulgarians, Khazars and Byzantium
4 The periods of Vladimir (980-1015) and Yaroslav the Wise (1036-1054), acceptance of Orthodox Christianity and influences of the Christianity upon the Russians, Russian first chroniques and Igor Tale
5 The Mongol invasion after the battle of Kalka (1223) and Mongol hegemony (1240-1380), formation of the Moscowian State (1300-1533), Dmitry Donsky and Battle at Kulikovo (1380)
6 Russia during the periods of the Golden Horde and the Khanates
7 Ivan the terrible (1533-1584)and building of Russia, occupation of the khanates by the Russians and the beginning phases of Ottoman and Russian relations, conquest of Siberia
8 The period of Peter the Great (1625-1725) and his some reforms, westernization of Russia
9 the period of Katerina the Great (1762-1796) and Ottoman and Russian relations during her time
10 Russia under the rule of Alexander I
11 Occupation of Russia by Napoleon (1812) and its results
