19 Objective of the Course: Understanding the place and importance of sufism in Islamic tradition while exploring the manifestations of mystical thought in Islamic context.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Understanding the importance of Sufism in the context of Islamic thought.;;
2 Making connections between the early period of sufism and the Prophetic times.;;
3 Making comparison between Prophetic experience and other mystical experiences.;;
4 Making comparison between sufistic experience and other mystical experiences.;;
5 Analyzing the philosophical thought of sufism.;;
6 Evaluating the role of sufi orders within the social and political area.;;
7 Analayzing the impact od sufi thought in the west.;;
8 Producing new ideas on the impact of sufism within the Islamic context.;;
9 Analyzing the classical and modern sources of sufism. ;;
10 Criticisng the new ideas within the sufi circles.;;

3 The place and importance of sufism within the Islamic thought.
4 The interaction of Sufism with other Islamic disciplines.
5 The period of asceticism and its characteristics.
6 The period of sufism.
7 Sufi schools.
8 The basic sufi concepts.
9 The literature of sufism.
10 The orthodox sufism and al-Ghazzali
11 The heterodox sufi gropus
12 Ibn al-Arabî and his teachings
13 The Akbarian school and its extensions
14 The illuminationist philosphy and its representatives
