19 Objective of the Course: The aim of this course is to enable the students to learn quantitative research methods in detail (determining subject / problem, research questions / hypotheses, developing and using information form, questionnaire scale, data collection tools, analyzing and reporting data in computer environment).

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able tograsp the nature of the data.;
2 To be able to explain the process of preparing a quantitative research proposal and to prepare a proposal.;
3 To understand the relevance of quantitative data in the social sciences.;
4 To apply quantitative research method in the field of foreign language learning and teaching process.;
5 To be able to develop/use quantitative data collection tools.;
6 To be able to use contemporary technologies to collect and analyze the quantitative data.;
7 To be able to comprehend the differences between quantitative data analysis other data analysis methods.;
8 To be able to apply scientific writing techniques in the field of foreign language teaching.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Introduction of data types and data collection techniques (quantitative, qualitative, mixed, ordered, etc.).
2 Preparation for quantitative research in the field of foreign language teaching: area / subject selection, research questions and hypothesis determination.
3 Introducing the quantitative data collection tools: Information form, questionnaire and scale types (standard scale, revised / translated scale etc.)
4 Work on ensuring the validity and reliability of data collection tools.
5 Collecting data and preparation it for an analysis in computer environment.
6 Analyzing the collected quantitative data in computer environment with M.S Excel software (Formula, macro etc.)
7 Analyzing the collected quantitative data with SPSS software in computer environment (number, frequency, comparison, etc.)
8 Obtaining findings by interpreting the data analyzed by M. S. Excel software.
9 Obtaining findings by interpreting the data analyzed by SPSS software.
10 Obtaining the results from the findings gained by analyzing the data in computational environment.
11 Discussion of the results (answering the research questions, testing the hypotheses, compariing them with literature etc.) and reporting (written reports, conference papers, articles etc.)
