19 Objective of the Course: To deal with the verdicts in the Qur’an about the human rights in the light of wisdom, and to work on presenting these verdicts to the people and making them understand these verdicts.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To get a deep knowledge on the concepts of Rights and Law;
2 To analyze the verses in the Qur’an regarded to Rights and Law;
3 To understand that Islamic religion is the religion of the Rights and Law;
4 To get a deep knowledge on the topics of fundamental rights and freedoms;
5 To understand the importance given by the Qur’an to the human rights;
6 To determine and analyze the verses in the Qur’an regarded to the human rights;
7 To understand the holiness of the fundamental rights which human beings posses since their birth;
8 To understand the relation between Religious verdict and the fundamental rights and freedoms of the human beings;
9 To understand the moral and legal regulations between individuals and between societies that should be obeyed to.;
10 To make people understand that Religion arranges the relations between them and protects theirs rights.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 The meaning of the words Hakk (Right) and Hukuk (Law) : a. The meaning in the dictionary b. The terminological meaning
2 Verses about Right and Law in the Qur’an
3 Islam is the religion of “Right and Law”
4 Hukukullah (the rights of Allah), Hukuku’l-ibad(the rights of the Man)
5 Human Rights: the fundamental rights and freedoms: a- The history of the human rights b- The first step of the announcement of the Declaration of the Human Rights in Europe: Magna Carta and the others c- Human rights in Islamic countries
6 The value of Man according to Qur’an: a- According to the Qur’an human beings are eşref-i mahlukat (the noblest of creatures) and they are born without sins b- According to the Qur’an everyone is equal in his rights and duties and there is no privileged class. The duties are according to the talents and specialties that are won latter in life.
7 Where fundamental rights and freedoms (the rights and duties of the humans) are based on according to the Qur’an: a- Justice b- Equality c- Simplicity d- Utility/Affair
8 Classification of fundamental rights and freedoms: a- Public law b- Individual law
9 Rights and freedoms according to the Qur’an: a- The right of Life (verses regarding to safety of life) b- Freedom right ( verses regarding freedom) c- According to the Qur’an there is not such establishment as Slavery; Slavery was fabricated by humans
10 d- The right of the private life/ privacy (spying is prohibited) e- The right of property ( verses regarding this topic) f- The right of protecting the Human honor, dignity and reputation (not to put ugly nicknames, not to make fun of sb.)
11 Safety of religion ( the right and the responsibility of belief ) a- In the call of Religion knowledge, wisdom, advice and discussion of ideas is fundamental, force and violence are prohibited b- There is no forcing in the Religion’s call c- Rights and Duties are due to later accomplishments and they cannot be implemented by force and violence
12 Peace-War law in the Qur’an and its principles: a- According to the Qur’an war cannot be done to force the establishing of Islam but only to protect the rights and the freedom b- The verdict of the Qur’an regarding Mürteds ( the ones who leave the Islam)
13 Safety of Goods: the right and freedom of property - The view of Qur’an regarding wealth: ( the wealth which doesn’t fulfill the gratitude, -alms, charity and so on, misleads the people into caprice and indulgence. (the example of Karun)
14 The moral and legal regulations between societies that should be obeyed to: a- The essence of a relationship between a Muslim and a non-Muslim is peace b- Permission for war is given only to protect the fundamental rights and freedoms and to prevent the conscious pressure that are done.
