19 Objective of the Course: In this course, acquiring knowledge of students about the historical developments of Balkans where is geographically part of Turkey, historical and cultural ties with Turkey, peoples living in this region, conflicts, minority and ethnic issues in Balkans, place of the region in the international system, political of the other states and regional – international organizations towards the Balkans, affects of the changes in post-Cold War to the region.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to learn the historical background of political developments in the Balkans;
2 To be able to have knowledge of history of people in Balkans;
3 To be able to have knowledge of the basis and developments of problems and conflicts in Balkans;
4 To be able to produce critical approaches to certain issues of Balkan politics within the framework various theories of international relations;
5 To be able to have knowledge of the policies of states outside the region of the Balkans;
6 To be able to understand Balkan policies of international and regional organizations (UN, EU, NATO, OSCE, etc..) ;
7 To be able to understand relations between Turkey and Balkans and to develops perspective towards the future;
8 To be able to knowledge of factors that affect the foreign policies of the Balkan countries;
9 To be able to knowledge of forces has been effective in the Balkan region at the historical process and their policies on the region.;
10 To be able to develops perspective on the future of Balkans.;

6 Developments in the Balkans after the Cold War Era
7 Basic Problems between the Balkan States nowadays
8 Minority Issues in the Balkans
9 Key Issues in the Balkans: Bosnia and Herzegovina
10 Key Issues in the Balkans: Kosovo
11 Effectiveness of International Organizations in the Balkans
12 Policies of Regional Organizations towards the Balkan Region
