19 Objective of the Course: The aim of this course is to discuss the questions of consciousness and the mental phenomena both in terms of their different interpretations in the history of philosophy and the current issues in phenomenology and cognitive science
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Scientific competence in the field
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 gains knowledge about different conceptions of mind and consciousness in the history of philosophy;
2 grasps contemporary arguments about mind;
3 discusses the relations between the questions of personal identity, the unity of consciousness and other problems of philosophy;
4 elucidates the relevance of the questions of selfhood and otherness;
5 grasps the relation between the questions of intentionality, action, will and freedom;
6 The intellectual progression from Descartes’ interactionism, alternative dualistic solutions were offered: occasionalism, double aspect theory, psychophysical parallelism, and epiphenomenalism.;
7 Monistic materialist solutions based on reductionism or emergence will be considered.;
