19 Objective of the Course: To teach the differences between content, development, dissemination and propaganda mechanisms of Islamic Sects.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Provides the ability to reach and interpret information about the field of study.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Student comprehends the concept of sect in Islamic thought tradition.;
2 Students learn about different theories and practices developed by different sects around the same subject.;
3 Students learn the differences between the development, propagation and propaganda mechanisms of sects.;
4 Students comprehend to what extent the conflicts and struggles developing around sectarian identities have real value and the possibility of solving the crises in this direction.;

1 The Relationship between Religion and Sect
2 The reality of sect in human and Divine religions
3 The phenomenon of sect in Islamic thought tradition and its reasons for sectarianism
4 Major Sects in Islam: Khawarij, Ahl al-Sunnah, Shia
5 The relationship between the sect and goverments Political influence in the spread of sects The spreading adventure of Ahl al-Sunnah
6 Shia as a pioneer of political religion interpretation
7 The main reasons of Sunni-Shiite division
8 Differences between Sunni-Shiite religious conception
9 The Problem of Caliphate and the differences in interpretation and Comparison of the imamate theories of Khawaric, Sunni and Shia.
10 Social structuring and cultural effects: Ulama imagination in the Sunni and Shia world
11 Sunni-Shia differentiation in terms of practical religiosity and institutional structuring
12 Public Religiosity, Sufism in the Sunni world and the Shrine visitations in the Shia world
13 Sunnism and Shiism in terms of regional domination struggle
14 New tendencies during the Arab Spring and Sectarian rivalry and its effects
