19 Objective of the Course: In this course, acquiring knowledge of students about historical, conceptual and theoretical aspects of ethnic structures and minorities, and aiming to apprehend problems in the world on this issue and how assessing the subject at the international treaties and international organizations
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development The course will contribute to the understanding of the problems faced by minorities and ethnic groups today and for students to do fieldwork in this field.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to learn basic concepts of the subject (ethnic, ethnicity, minority, nation, etc.) and differences between these concepts;
2 To be able to have knowledge about nationalism, nation-building processes, ethnic problems and minorities relationship nation-state. And to be able to find the opportunity of using different theoretical approaches.;
3 To be able to analyse relationship between human rights, minority rights and security problems based on fundamental theoretical approaches of international relations;
4 To be able to have knowledge about scope of minority rights and classification of minority rights;
5 To be able to have knowledge about the developments of the protection of minority rights in national and international area and legislation;
6 To be able to get an opportunity to assess ethnic structure and minorities in Turkey with the national legislation and international arrangements which Turkey is a part;
7 To be able to get an opportunity to assess theoretical knowledge learned in which over examples of ethnic problems and minorities experienced on World ;

9 Identity Rights of Minorities, Participation in Public Life and Establishment of International Relations Rights
10 International Protection of Minorities and International Organizations
11 Ethnic Issues and Minorities: The Case of the Balkans
