19 Objective of the Course: To evaluate main school of thoughts effecting historiography from the 19th century until today and criticism to word them and evaluation of those criticisms.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to grasp the new line of historiography on a global basis.;
2 To be able to evaluate the main schools in historiography and the Works of their representatives.;
3 To be able to exemplify the effects of ideology and worldview upon historical writings.;
4 To be able to grasp the main points of criticism directed to historiography by other social scientists.;
5 To be able to explain the main points of difference between American and European historiography.;
6 To be able to evaluate the representations of main historical thoughts in Turkey.;
7 To be able to compare Works of history produced in Turkey with the Works of history produced in countries other than Turkey in terms of subject, method and approach.;
8 To be able to exemplify how the computer technology can be utilized in historical investigation.;

2 Influences of modern-positivist perception of science on historical studies.
3 Tradition of German historiography in 19th century.
4 Leopold Ranke and historiography depending on official, state documents.
5 Ideologization of history as a instrument of creating national identity.
6 Annales School and its pioneers.
7 Marxist historiography and its pioneers.
8 Impacts of Frankfurt School upon historiography.
9 Tradition of American social historiography.
10 Employment of quantitative data in historical investigations.
11 Democratization of history: Micro-historical studies.
12 A new method in historical researches: Oral History
13 The current situation of historiography in Turkey
