Vocational College- Materials and Material Processing Technology Faculty -Furniture and Decoration Department
This program is subject to first cycle degree system of 120 ECTS in higher education of the Materials and Material Processing Technologies - Furniture and Decoration department. Students who finish the program successfully will get the Associates degree in Materials and Material Processing Technologies - Furniture and Decoration department.

Specific Admission Requirements
Candidates must have high school diploma and enough points on YGS-Examination. The transition from vocational high school graduates are without examination. High school graduates are placed with the YGS-1 score.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
To get associates degree from this program, students must complete all must and elective courses (which is 120 ECTS in total) successfully, finish 30day long Industrial Education and lastly get GPA at least 2.00 /4.00.

Profile of The Programme
The purpose of Uludag University Vocational School - Department of Furniture and Decoration- Materials and Material Processing Technologies program is to train the technical personnel who have ability and capacity to work in R&D M&D Furniture Design enterprises. Aim is to improve usage of Solid Wood and wood table and furniture manufacturing processes knowledge, implement manufacturing processes, draw the ability of hand tools, give knowledge of machine equipments and materials, computer based draw design and manufacture software, teach the usage of CNC machines, work area security and health, risk analysis in work environment, ethic of this job area, new trends and developments in sector.

Learn design, modeling, simulation and production-related operations with CAM-CAM programs

Having the ability of using CNC machines, creating programs and making manufacturing or production.

Capable of material recognition, production methods, practicing knowledge of materials and distinguishing materials and equipment

Knowing measurement processes, controlling equipment and tools. Being capable of using them during and after the manufacturing process and controlling quality departments and contributing to production processes.

Knowing the working principles of Hydraulic - Pneumatic recognition and compressed air techniques which is used in the processes of manufacture of furniture and which is required industrial machineries or equipment and having the capability to perform periodic maintenance and repairs.

To anticipate material disadvantages in usage of main, auxiliary and complementary products in design, production and manufacture processes of Furniture and Decoration. Taking environmental conditions into consideration. To implement necessary applications if needed.

Being aware of the importance of occupational health and safety, complying with the rules at all times, trying to make the counter-system-analysis of risk (associated with the unit in case of emergency), doing first aid applications, having the ability to know them if necessary.

Knowing the methods of mass production, using mass production machines especially for the mass production and having the ability to design elements and auxiliary apparatus.

11.
To fulfill the functions of business management, to manage the production process with simple mathematical operations, to have the ability to calculate the cost-income-expenditure, to know quality, occupational health, safety, environmental management systems and to contribute to the creation of this infrastructure in workplace.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates from this program are employed in enterprises such Furniture Manufacturing and Production, R&D, P&D, Design, departments of Manufacturing, Marketing, Work in process and raw materials in the production as a technical staff or as technicians.

Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed their associate’s studies take part in Undergraduate programs only if they have enough note for DGS (Vertical Transfer Examination) examination and placed by OSYM.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
To register classes at the beginning of each semester and to enter final exam, student should attend at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of workshops. Students are subjected to one midterm and final exam at least for each class. Success grade is composed of midterm exam (can be homework, laboratory exams, quizzes, etc.) and final exam, each %50. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students are required to obtain at least 30 points in finals. If a student gets a letter grade as AA, BA, BB, CB and CC, he or she is considered as successful in that course. DC and DD notes are conditionally successful. Students who get DC or DD can be considered as successful only if GPA is higher than 2.00/4.00

Graduation Requirements
To finish the program successfully, complete all the courses available in the program (120 ECTS), get a GPA at least 2.00/4.00 and complete the internship based on industry training

Furniture and Decoration programs are present in two Vocational Schools of Uludag University. In this program, three teaching assistants are staffed.
Computer-aided drafting and design of furniture and decoration laboratory program meet the needs of UU Panel Furniture and Wood Furniture Manufacturing and Application Workshop located with CNC machine park.
In addition with technical visits to businesses located in Athol Furniture and Furniture side industry, manufacturing, technology, methods and techniques observed by examining and new machines are being followed.
