General Description
Department of Arts Education offers bachelor’s degree since the academic year of 1981. The department currently has 1 Assistant professor, 3 Associate Professors, 11 lecturers, 3 Phd Research Assistants.
Our program was founded in1981 with the name “Higher Institution for Teacher Education- Arts Department”. In 1982 it was re-structured as part of Uludag University and currently the curriculum designed by YÖK is in use.
Arts Education program started new academic year, 2011-2012, in our new building at Görükle Campus and is a part of Fine Arts Education Department
This department offers 240 ECTS credits in the field of Arts Education. Graduates who successfully completed the program with established qualifications shall have a bachelor degree in Arts Education.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

To obtain bachelor´s degree in Arts Education program the students must successfully complete the required and elective courses (total 240 ECTS) and maintain the minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0/4.0

Profile of The Programme
Our program aims to prepare art educators who have knowledge of fine arts in both theory and practice; who are able to use this knowledge in art production and processes; who have creative and critical thinking skills; who have aesthetical sensitivity and show this sensitivity toward their environments; and also are qualified in art education and pedagogy.
Arts education undergraduate program used to have two different offerings of program attendance. Starting by 2012-2013 Academic year, no more students will be admitted to our Full-Time Night Courses Program and the students who are currently registered will continue their course of study until they graduate.
Our scope is to prepare qualified art educators for information age and for the new ages. We also aim to be a department which contributes to the body of knowledge in the field of art education; ever-growing; and exemplary in teacher preparation with which to be proud of.
Our department also adapted a mission that involves preparing art teachers who show fidelity to principals of Atatürk and his revolutions; who have an understanding of concepts of national and universal identity; who show tolerance, have a sense of justice and democracy; professionally qualified; who have a sense of curiosity; be able to think analytically and critically; who have good communication skills; to have developed a positive self; creative; and finally highly qualified art educators.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates can be employed as arts teachers in both public and private schools under the Ministry of National Education. In addition based on their studio areas of expertise they can find jobs in Ceramics, Textiles, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Graphic Design, Painting and related fields.

Access to Further Studies
Upon successful completion of undergraduate degree, candidate can study in postgraduate program if s/he has eligible ALES exam score and has sufficient knowledge of a foreign language.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
A variety of assessment methods such as mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the program. Assessment methods may include classical test(s), multiple-choice test(s), homework(s), performance evaluation(s), and product evaluation(s). In order to graduate from the program, cumulative GPA must be minimum 2.00. A course grade is constituted by evaluating the above stated elements and given by using letters. To succeed in a course, students must get at least 40 points from the final exam and have at least 50 points average. Students who get AA, AA, BA, BB, CB and CC are considered successful. DC and DD are notes that conditionally successful. Students have to attend 70% in theoretical, 80% of practical sessions of courses.

Our building has a total of 6572 sq. Meters of closed-area space, it is a three story building including ground floor. Building includes
21 offices;
1 Administration-office; 1 Secretarial office; 1 meeting room; 1 staff room; a total of 15 painting, sculpture, ceramic, graphic design, textile design, photography and printmaking studios; 3 classrooms; 1 conference room; 2 galleries and a library.
University Central library and faculty’s library are open to both students and faculty members’ use.
