Veterinary Virology Thesis Master's Program
General Description
The Virology Thesis Master´s Program at the B.U.U. Institute of Health Sciences was established in 2025 within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and provides postgraduate education in Virology.
Once the program qualifications are met, the student will receive a master´s degree in Virology.

Specific Admission Requirements
Students are required to have graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Faculty of Medicine, the Department of Biology within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, or the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. To apply for a thesis-based master´s program, students must have a bachelor´s degree in the field(s) specified in the announcement, meet any special conditions, and have the minimum ALES score determined by the Senate in the numerical score type for Health Sciences. For English as a foreign language, the minimum score is determined by the Senate from ÜDS, KPDS, TOEFL, or equivalent exams accepted by YÖK, or from the foreign language exam administered by Uludağ University School of Foreign Languages, and (if applicable) meet the minimum foreign language score specified in the announcement. Applicants to this year´s master´s program must have a minimum ALES score of 55, a minimum ÜDS/KPDS/UÜDS/TOEFL IBT score of 50, a TOEFL CBT score of 130, a TOEFL PBT score of 450, or an equivalent foreign language score. Foreign nationals are required to submit a Turkish proficiency certificate issued by TÖMER and a relevant ALES exam result, or a GRE, GMAT, or similar exams recognized by YÖK as internationally equivalent. Foreign students must submit a TÖMER certificate proving their Turkish proficiency (excluding those studying in Turkey) and documentation of an equivalent score from an exam recognized by YÖK as Foreign Language Equivalency (http://www.yok.gov.tr/content/view/709/266/lang.tr_TR/). Evaluation criteria: The General Success Score is calculated by adding 50% of the ALES score, 15% of the foreign language score, 15% of the Undergraduate Diploma GPA, and 20% of the interview score. Candidates with an overall success score below 60 points are considered unsuccessful.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
There is no proficiency exam in the Veterinary Virology Master´s degree program.

Profile of The Programme
This proposed master´s program enables students with a bachelor´s degree from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology, or Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics to become qualified researchers by increasing their knowledge, experience, and experience in the field of virology.

They can apply to doctoral programs in fields related to science and health sciences. They can work in research institutes and R&D laboratories.

Access to Further Studies
Those who successfully complete their master´s degree can apply to the doctoral program, provided that they have the GPA, ALES, and foreign language score approved by the senate and our department.

The relevant article of the BUÜ Senate decision and the Postgraduate Education Regulations are implemented.

Graduation Requirements
To graduate with a Master´s degree in Veterinary Virology, students must successfully complete the program´s core and seminar courses, specialized courses, and thesis, totaling at least 120 ECTS credits. To be considered successful, students must achieve a minimum score of 70 out of 100 (CC) on each course exam. Students who successfully defend their thesis in a relevant field before a select jury at the end of the thesis period are considered qualified.
