Surgical Diseases Nursing Master's Program with Thesis
General Description
BUÜ Institute of Health Sciences Master´s Degree Program with Thesis in Surgical Nursing was established in 2024.
Those who successfully complete the Master´s Degree Program in Surgical Nursing with Thesis are awarded a Master´s Degree in Surgical Nursing.

Specific Admission Requirements
In order for a student to apply to the master´s program with thesis; a) Graduating from Nursing School, Nursing Faculties and Faculty of Health Sciences´s Nursing Programs is required. Undergraduate diploma grade point average (GPA) should be at least 2.25 over 4. According to Senate´s desicion ALES ( At least score of 55 ) is required for application to Health Sciences Institute. It is required to have obtained a base score to be determined by the decision of the Department Board (if requested) from the international foreign language exam accepted as equivalent to the central foreign language exams accepted by YÖK or the foreign language exam conducted by Bursa Uludağ University School of Foreign Languages. The Senate decides on the equivalence of other foreign language documents.Except for the programs in which education and training are provided entirely in a foreign language, foreign students accepted to other master´s, doctorate / proficiency in arts programs must pass the Turkish exam given by ULUTÖMER or other state universities, provided that it is not less than C1 level, recommended by the institute´s department / art branch presidency and approved by the Senate. They must be successful at the agreed level. Those who are not successful must attend a maximum 1 (one) year Turkish language course opened by ULUTÖMER or a center determined by the Senate and must be successful in the Turkish exam. Turkish proficiency certificate is not required for foreign candidates who have completed their undergraduate or graduate studies in Turkey. Foreign candidates can be admitted to the program if they receive a score of at least 55 (fifty-five) points from the YDS from one of the languages ??accepted by the Interuniversity Board, or the equivalent of this score from the international foreign language exam accepted by ÖSYM. Foreign candidates who have completed their undergraduate or master´s program with thesis in foreign countries must have a recognition certificate from YÖK.In order for a student to be evaluated in a master´s program with thesis; As the evaluation interval, ALES score is 50%, Undergraduate GPA 20%, Interview grade is 30% weight. has. Foreign student candidates have a 50% undergraduate GPA and 50% in the Interview grade. Candidates with a general grade of less than 65 points are considered unsuccessful.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
To apply for a Master´s degree in Surgical Nursing, applicants must hold a bachelor´s degree. To obtain a master´s degree, students must successfully complete all required and elective courses in the program, achieving a minimum grade of 70 out of 100 in each course.

Profile of The Programme
The purpose of the Master´s Program in Surgical Nursing is to train professionals with comprehensive knowledge and skills in the field of surgical nursing. The program lasts four semesters. The first two semesters consist of courses and thesis preparation, while the last two semesters consist of thesis work. The Department assigns an academic advisor to students enrolled in the Master´s program to provide guidance during the coursework and thesis phases. Students select their courses under the supervision of their advisor. Students who complete the first semester must determine their thesis topic under the supervision of their advisor, develop a project plan, and submit it to the Institute. To graduate, students must take at least eight courses during their master´s program, totaling no less than 120 ECTS credits, and fulfill the publication requirements specified in the BUÜ Graduate Education and Teaching Regulations Implementation Principles.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Students who have completed a Master´s Degree in Surgical Nursing can work in hospitals´ surgical units, as managers and project leaders, or as academics in nursing schools.

Access to Further Studies
Students who complete the Master´s Program in Nursing for Surgical Diseases can apply to doctoral programs in the same field. Students who complete the Master´s Program can apply to doctoral programs in the same field.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Graduation Requirements
The thesis-based master´s program consists of at least eight courses, including a seminar course during the course phase, a Master´s Specialization Area Course to be taken each semester, a Thesis Advisory Course, and thesis work, provided that it comprises at least 120 ECTS credits. It also includes the publication requirements specified in Appendix 1 of the BUÜ Graduate Education and Teaching Regulations Implementation Principles.
