Nutrition and Dietetics
General Description

Brief History
The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics was established within the Faculty of Health Sciences of Bursa Uludağ University and admitted its first students in the fall semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.

Qualification Awarded
When a total of 240 ECTS courses are successfully completed within the scope of the course curriculum, a "Bachelor´s Degree" in Nutrition and Dietetics is obtained.

Specific Admission Requirements
It accepts students with the central exam conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). In addition, students are accepted by horizontal transfer in the numbers approved by the department board of directors.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to have a bachelor´s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, it is required to have successfully completed a total of 240 ECTS compulsory and elective courses specified in the curriculum and to have a GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.00.

Profile of The Programme
To train professionally competent dietitians who meet the qualifications determined within the framework of international standards, have universal thoughts and values, respect cultural and ethical values and are professionally competent.

Key Learning Outcomes
1. Has the ability to use basic and professional knowledge related to the field of Nutrition and Dietetics theoretically and practically.
2. Has the ability to identify, interpret and solve problems in different areas of Nutrition and Dietetics.
3. To be able to work effectively in different areas of Nutrition and Dietetics individually and in a team of different disciplines.
4. Gains the ability to continuously improve himself/herself professionally by adopting the importance of lifelong learning.
5. Acts in accordance with the principles of professional ethics within the scope of their duties, rights and responsibilities.
6. Has the ability to evaluate the nutritional status of healthy individuals, sick individuals and the community, and to apply appropriate intervention approaches using current knowledge and skills acquired in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics.
7. Gains the ability to use modern information technologies and technological equipment related to the field of Nutrition and Dietetics effectively.
8. Has the ability to communicate verbally and in writing at national and international level on issues related to the field of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates can work as clinical or executive dieticians in inpatient treatment institutions, child and elderly care homes, community health, private diet polyclinics, individual diet counseling and training centers, and can also be employed as academicians. In addition, graduates can work as managers, researchers and educators in different institutions where mass nutrition is made, private or public organizations related to food and nutrition.

Access to Further Studies
Individuals who have successfully completed their undergraduate education and received the title of dietitian can study in graduate education programs according to ALES and foreign language exam results.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
It is applied in accordance with Article 32 of the "Regulation on Associate and Undergraduate Education" taken by the Senate of Bursa Uludağ University.

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the program, you must have successfully completed the compulsory and elective courses specified in the curriculum with a total of 240 ECTS and have a GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.00.

Facilities
Within the Faculty of Health Sciences, there are 2 application laboratories belonging to the department and 4 classrooms, 1 lecture hall and 2 higher education classrooms belonging to the faculty within a closed area of 1444 m². There are 2 full-time professors and 1 doctoral faculty member working full-time in the Nutrition and Dietetics department. Clinical applications are carried out in Bursa Uludag University Health Practice and Research Center clinics, other state hospitals in Bursa and private clinics.
