Brief History
The program was opened under the Department of Music of the Turkish World opened in 2021 and started formal education.

Qualification Awarded
Those who successfully complete the program and meet the program qualifications will have a Master´s degree in Turkish World Music.

Specific Admission Requirements
Students who graduated from the Music Department of the State Conservatory, Department of Music and Fine Arts, as well as talented candidates from all different fields, can apply.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Those who have taken at least 21 credits (equivalent to 60 ECTS) from the existing courses in the program and have successfully completed all of them; A Master´s degree is awarded to students who have completed their seminar studies, achieved a weighted grade point average of at least 70 out of 100, and successfully defended their thesis in the relevant field in front of a jury.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the Turkish World Music Master´s program at the Department of Turkish World Music; To train researchers who can use the knowledge and skills gained in the field in national and international scientific and artistic environments, who are competent in scientific research methods and techniques, and who can reconcile national values with global values.

Key Learning Outcomes & Classified & Comparative
1. To be able to supervise every stage of research or studies related to the field of music by considering social, scientific, cultural and ethical values.
2. To be able to recognize and compare the existing musical structures, concepts, genres and instruments in the Turkish World.
3. To transfer the studies put forward in line with the knowledge and skills in the field of music by establishing a relationship between theory and practice.
4. To be able to comprehend the musical separation points of the Nomadic and Settled, Urban and Rural, North and South - East and West Turkestan areas in the Turkish World.
5. To convey her views effectively by participating in discussions and congresseson the subjects related to her/his field.
6. To be able to make a comparison between the musical structures of the Turkish World and the Turks of Turkey.
7. To be able to master the technical details of vocal and instrumental performances of the Turkish World, to be able to reconstruct them with different instruments.
8. To have knowledge about the effects of the historical, cultural and political transition processes of the Turkish World on music and to make inferences.
9. To be able to establish a cause-effect relationship about familiarity with different Turkish Language dialects used in the Turkish World and their effects on vocal music.
10. To be able to understand the tonality and rhythmic features of Turkish World music and to be able to analyze it by writing music.
11. To explain the work she/he has done in her field and to express her/his views effectively by participating in the discussions on these issues.
12. Working within national and international project teams in the field of music.
13. To relate knowledge, methods and techniques related to Turkish music and ethnomusicology with other disciplines.
14. To be able to conduct interdisciplinary studies by making use of the theories of other social science fields such as Language, History, Ethnography and Sociology.
15. To be able to carry out studies in which this origin unity of the Turkish Nation, which uses the dialects of the Turkish Language and comes from a common origin, can also be discussed from a musical point of view.
16. To be able to approach the music of the Turkish World with a comparative observation and to make an integrated inference about the existing musical structure, genre, sound systems, instrument and vocal techniques, performer types and performance environments.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Depending on the knowledge, skills and experience of the branch of science they graduated from, they can work as instructors in various institutions and organizations or in various higher education institutions that provide education in their field.

Access to Further Studies
Candidates who successfully complete their master´s education can continue their education in doctoral programs, provided that they have sufficient foreign language knowledge and experience.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
In order for each student to register for the courses at the beginning of the semester and take the final exam, they must attend at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the applied courses. Students are subjected to at least one final exam for each course. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. It is obligatory to get at least 75 points from a course and students who get one of the letter grades of AA, BA, BB and CB are considered successful in that course.

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the Music Education Master´s program, it is necessary to have successfully completed the courses in the program (60 ECTS equivalent), to have completed the seminar studies and to have successfully defended the thesis in front of a jury.

The State Conservatory building, where music lessons are given, has a modern architecture, individual study rooms, a reading hall, seminar, presentation and concert hall.
