Landscape and Ornamental Plants Growing
General Description

Brief History
In our school, it was one of the first programs opened as Pruning and Grafting Program in 1986. Our program was renamed as Greenhouse Pruning and Grafting in 1990, Greenhouse Program in 1993, Greenhouse and Ornamental Plants Cultivation in 2006 and finally Ornamental Plants Cultivation in 2009. Our program offers courses such as Plant Production Techniques, Plant Identification, Botany and Plant Physiology, Indoor and Outdoor Ornamental Plants Cultivation, Cut Flower Cultivation, Seasonal Flower Cultivation, Landscape and Project, Ornamental Plants Diseases and Pests. The Landscape and Ornamental Plants Cultivation Program provides formal education in its building on the Görükle Campus of our University.

Graduates are entitled to to get the title of technician in the field of Growing of Ornamental Plant.

Specific Admission Requirements
Candidates shall have a high school diploma or its equivalent and get sufficient points from the University Entrance Exam.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students should successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses which are required so that the students can get an associate degree in the field of Growing of Ornamental Plant. Students’ Grade Point Avarage should be over 2.0 out of 4.0

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the training program is to train highly qualified, talented, experienced, entrepreneurial, dynamic and highly qualified individuals with inter-professional knowledge and coordination base, taking into account the country´s realities and requirements. Students of the program will graduate with the necessary knowledge and equipment after taking practical vocational courses and completing an internship for 2 years.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Our graduates can work as intermediate staff in institutions and organizations such as public institutions, municipalities, landscape architecture project and application offices, construction companies, nurseries and greenhouses that produce and sell ornamental plants, and they can also establish their own application and production companies.

Access to Further Studies
Students of the Landscape and Ornamental Plants Breeding Program can transfer to four-year undergraduate programs with the DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam) at the end of the 4th semester. In the DGS exam, program students can choose the programs of Landscape Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design, Forest Engineering and Agricultural Engineering.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students have to register and enroll in the courses at the beginning of each term. They have to participate in 70% of theoretical and 80 % applied courses so that they can take the final exam. They have to take at least one mid-term and one final exam for each course. The passing grade consist of 50% mid-term exams degrees (including applied exam and quises ) and final exam degree. Students have to take at least 30 points out of 100 from final exam. Students have to get AA, BA, BB, CB or CC from a course in order to pass it. In order to graduate, each student should have a Grade Point Average over 2.0

Graduation Requirements
Students have to pass all the courses available in the program, have at least 2.0 average grade point out of 4.0 and successfully complete 30- day summer practice in order to graduate from the program

Our program has a grenhouse of 500 square meters We grow indoor and outdoor ornamental plats and cut flowers. The program has two Asist Prof.Dr.
