General Description

Brief History
The Plant Protection Program was opened in the 2018-2019 academic year and started to accept students in the 2019-2020 academic year.

Qualification Awarded
When the program with 120 ECTS credits is completed successfully and the program qualifications are met, an Associate Degree in Plant Protection is obtained.

Specific Admission Requirements
Although candidates must have a high school or equivalent school diploma, all admission and registration conditions are determined by OSYM in accordance with the relevant legislation of YÖK.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to obtain an Associate Degree in Plant Protection, students must successfully complete all of the required and elective courses (equivalent to a total of 120 ECTS) in the program and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 over 4.00.

To examine the problems in the Plant Protection Area and to produce current solutions, to adapt advanced technologies to the plant protection field.

1. Students can generally recognize common disease factors, pests, weeds and beneficial organisms in agricultural fields.
2. Define the Basic Plant Protection Concepts and Principles.
3. She/he can share her thoughts and suggestions on Plant Protection issues with experts and exchange information on these issues.
4. Have sufficient knowledge and awareness on occupational safety, worker health, social security rights, quality control and management.
5. Knows the legislation in the field of Plant Protection and gains the ability to inform the relevant people and institutions on such issues.

7. Can transfer the information about the identification, damages, biology and control of plant diseases, pests and weeds to farmers.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduating students; They can find job opportunities in organizations affiliated to the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, agrochemical and seed companies, agricultural consultancy companies, pesticide companies and agrochemical dealers, companies producing plant material free from diseases and pests, and organic farming enterprises.

Access to Further Studies
Graduates of the Plant Protection Program can transfer to the relevant departments of the faculties with the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Each student must attend at least 70% of the lessons and at least 80% of the practices in order to register for the classes at the beginning of the term and to enter the final exam. Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam (scores obtained from measurement tools such as homework, laboratory exam, quiz, etc. as midterm grade can also be taken into consideration) to the success grade is 40%, and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. There is a requirement to get at least 50 points from the final exam. Students who get AA, BA, BB, CB and CC letter grades from a course are considered successful in that course. DC and DD grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for the student to be successful in a course in which he / she received DC or DD grade, his / her general weighted grade point average must be at least 2.0.

Graduation Requirements
In order to successfully complete the program, it is necessary to pass all of the courses available in the program (equivalent to 120 ECTS), to obtain a grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 and to successfully complete the internship.

Facilities
We have a general purpose laboratory within the body of our Vocational School and a 3000 square meter application area and a 320 square meter greenhouse, which were given to our school in Yenişehir. Our greenhouse has all kinds of equipment related to soil cultivation, fertilization, irrigation and agricultural struggle. Our school has a 17-person minibus and this vehicle can be used in the implementation studies in our district.
