Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The master program with thesis consists of compulsory and elective courses and a seminar course, specialization field course and thesis study - that to be taken each semester- provided that it is not less than 120 ECTS credits. In addition, additional publication or scientific activity may be required by the decision of the Senate.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the Social Studies Education Master Program is to raise experts who have the knowledge, skills, attitudes and experience to conduct education, training and high-level research in the field of social studies, who can think critically and have the competencies to follow the innovations in their field on a national and international scale.

Key Learning Outcomes
1. To gain all the knowledge in Education and Social Studies fields such as history, geography, to improve theoretical and practical skills in the proficiency level, and to produce new knowledge by combining the findings in various fields.
2. To be able to practice and provide solutions to the problems which require expertise in the field of social studies by using the quantitative and qualitative research methods, to work independently and to take responsibility.
3. To be able to develop new approaches to unexpected complicated problems, design methods and take part in teamwork.
4. To be able to make critical evaluations of the knowledge in social studies field to control and lead the learning and to acquire life-long learning skills.
5. To share their knowledge and findings in the field of social studies in the form of oral or written presentations in national and international conferences, make discussion about these studies, to evaluate the current developments within the country’s realities, to develop strategies, policies and practicing programs in their interest subjects and to evaluate their results from quality process perspective
6. To be able to critically evaluate the knowledge acquired in the fields of Social Studies Education, to determine the needs, to try to evaluate his life-long learning, to follow the developments and to use technology effectively to achieve the current changes in the field.
7. To have the knowledge about evaluating the reliability and validity of the information of Social Studies through the nature, the source and the limits of the field.
8. To discuss information, production and methods related to Social Studies practices.
9. To know and apply the teaching programs and measurement and assessment techniques and practice used in the field.

Our graduates can work as a teacher / researcher / expert public or private institutions (by meeting the conditions of the relevant institutions).

Students who have completed the master´s program can continue doctoral program (by meeting acceptance conditions stated in the advertisement)

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Each student is required to attend at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the practices in order to register for the courses at the beginning of the term. Students who do not meet this requirement are not taken to the exam and the student is given the grade "Absentee" (D). There are two types of compulsory exams: final exam and make-up exam for students who fail the final exam. However, the relevant course faculty member / lecturer, can take a midterm exam, make a quiz, project or homework work. The effect rate of the final exam must be at least 60%. In order for a student to be successful in a course, he / she must get at least 70 (CC) in the master program as a success grade from that course.

Graduation Requirements
The duration of the master´s program with thesis is a maximum of four semesters for each semester, regardless of whether the student is registered or not, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program he / she enrolled in, excluding the time spent in scientific preparation, and the program is completed in six semesters at most. The student has to spend at least one semester at the thesis stage. Those who cannot successfully complete the credit courses and seminar courses in the curriculum at the end of four semesters or fail to fulfill the conditions / criteria stipulated by the University within this period; The student who fails in the thesis work or does not enter the thesis defense within the maximum period of time is dismissed from the institute. A student in a master´s program writes his results in accordance with the thesis writing rules accepted by the institute board of directors and defends his thesis orally before the jury. The student must be successful in thesis defense.
