AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING MASTER'S SECOND COURSE
General Description

Brief History
Automotive Engineering Department was established in 2010 and was started to give education on master of science degree in 2011. The Automotive Engineering Department is a pioneer department for Turkey, as being one of the first of its kind in Turkey. The Department offers two programs to qualified students for further education and research at advanced level, leading to the degree of MSc in Automotive Engineering. The Graduate Programs are MSc with thesis and non-thesis programs in Automotive Engineering. Non-thesis program is a MSc without thesis program with the support of Politecnico di Torino (PdT) Italy. There are 10 students in the MSc with thesis and 40 students in MSc without thesis program, total of 50 graduate students in M.Sc. programs are enrolled in the department.

Qualification Awarded
The department´s education is based on at least 120 ECTS - European Credit Transfer System). The Master of Science Degree in Automotive Engineering Program is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum, seminars and defend a thesis sucessfully.

Specific Admission Requirements
Science degree in Bachelor and ALES (numeric) score which is determined by the Senate of Uludag University is required. Students must have minimum score determined by Senate in UDS, TOEFL, TOEFL or equivalent examinations accepted by YÖK, or foreign language exam which is conducted by the School of Foreign Languages in one of foreign languages in English. Uludağ University Senate decides the Equivalence of other foreign language documents. For foreign candidates, Turkish competency given by TOMER and ALES exam results or GRE, GMAT and other exams which are by YOK in international level.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The graduate program students throughout their education, a total of 120 ECTS, not less than a minimum of eight courses, a seminar and thesis work must succeed. The students of Automotive Engineering Master Program who meet the relevant requirements are awarded MSc degree. The course concerned in this note is to be successful, must be at least 70 out of 100.

Profile of The Programme
The automotive engineering department is a pioneer department for Turkey, as being one of the first of its kind in Turkey. The Department offers two graduate programs to qualified students for further education and research at advanced level, leading to the degree of MSc in Automotive Engineering. The graduate programs give opportunities to qualified students for further education at an advanced level. The aim of Automotive Engineering Department is to provide high quality graduate education in the advanced technical and professional areas of Automotive Engineering regarding the mission of department to provide skills, in order to fulfill the needs and expectations of automotive industry and society providing world-class knowledge and education, showing continuous self-improvement in education and regarding as a well-known qualified department. Automotive Engineering Department aims to support development of automotive field in Bursa and in Turkish industry. Course Plans are designed to meet the demands for engineers in industry and in higher education by considering the scientific advances and requirements of the Turkish industry and regarding the curriculums of other well-known international and national automotive engineering departments

Key Learning Outcomes - TYYÇ - TAY Relationship

Key Learning Outcomes
1. Developing and intensifying knowledge in the Automotive Engineering program's area, based upon the competency in the undergraduate level.
2. Grasping the inter-disciplinary interaction related to Automotive Engineering area.
3. The ability to use the expert-level theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the automotive engineering area.
4. Interpreting and forming new types of knowledge by combining the knowledge from the Automotive Engineering area and the knowledge from various other disciplines
5. Solving the problems faced in the Automotive Engineering area by making use of the research methods
6. The ability to carry out a specialistic study related to Automotive Engineering area independently.
7. Developing new strategic approaches to solve the unforeseen and complex problems arising in the practical processes of one's area and coming up with solutions while taking responsibility.
8. Fulfilling the leader role in the environments where solutions are sought for the problems related to Automotive Engineering field.
9. Assessing the spesialistic knowledge and skill ganied through the study with a critical view and directing one's own learning process.
10. Systematically transferring the current developments in the area and one's own work to other groups in and out of the area; in written, oral and visual forms.
11. Ability to see and develop social relationships and the norms directing these relationships with a critical look and the ability to take action to change these when necessary.
12. Proficiency in a foreign language -at least European Language Portfolio B2 Level-and establishing written and oral communication with that language.
13. Using the computer software together with the information and communication Technologies efficiently and according to the needs of Automotive Engineering area
14. Paying regard to social, scientific, cultural and ethical values during the collecting, interpreting, practicing and announcing processes of the Automotive Engineering area related data and the ability to teach these values to others

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Automotive Engineering Graduates can work in the wide range of automotive industry organizations, R&D (Research and Development) firms, consulting companies, manufacturing industry, transportation systems, defense and aerospace industry, and in a wide variety of private and public sectors and firms in international and national organizations.

Access to Further Studies
The graduates holding Master´s Degree are eligible to apply to PhD Degree programs at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines. At national level graduates have to take an appropriate score determined by the Senate of Uludag University in the Graduate Entrance Examination ALES (Graduate Entrance Examination) and having sufficient foreign language knowledge.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
It is implemented in accordance with the 32nd article of the Associate and Undergraduate Education Regulations adopted by the BUÜ Senate decision.

Graduation Requirements
Students must succesfully pass all compulsory and elective courses on the program and who have succesfully completed all courses in the curriculum will be given The Master´s Degree in Automotive Engineering Program. Graduate students must have to pass each course with grades at least 70(CC) points over 100(AA) and seminars and defend a thesis succesfully.

Facilities
In 2011, the Automotive Engineering Department moved to the new modern building which includes offices, lecture rooms and laboratories. There are two modern conference rooms in the building, one of them is equipped with hardware and software which is used for distance learning activities and video conferences with national and international institutions. In Automotive Engineering Department, education and research studies are carried out through four branches as Vehicle Design, Vehicle Dynamics and Control, Vehicle Propulsion and Power Systems, Vehicle Transport Systems. Department has 6 Professor, 3 Associate Professors, 4 Assistant Professors and 10 Research Assistant. The department is proud to be a pioneer department for Turkey, as being one of the first of its kind in Turkey, it will lead many activities in automotive fields and it will successfully continue to attain the three goals of its mission; education, research and public service.
