General Description
Automotive Engineering Department of Engineering and Architectural Faculty of Uludağ University was established in 2010. The Automotive Engineering Department is a pioneer department for Turkey, as being one of the first of its kind in Turkey. At the undergraduate level, the Department offers a B.Sc. program in Automotive Engineering. The Graduate Programs are MSc with thesis and non-thesis programs in Automotive Engineering . Non-thesis program is a MSc without thesis program with the support of Politecnico di Torino (PdT), Italy. 31 undergraduate students in the B.Sc. program and 50 graduate students in M.Sc. programs are enrolled in the department.Automotive Engineering Department of Engineering Faculty of Uludağ University was established in 2010. The department’s education is based on 240 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits. The Bachelor`s Degree in Automotive Engineering program is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum.

Specific Admission Requirements
Students who have graduated from high schools or equivalent institutions may apply to the Bachelors program in Automotive Engineering if they satisfy the application criteria and possess the following qualifications; Diploma from a high school or an equivalent level institution and adequate score in the University Entrance Examination.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Profile of The Programme
The automotive engineering department is a pioneer department for Turkey, as being one of the first of its kind in Turkey. Automotive engineering program is considered to teach, train and develop the knowledge and skills for undergraduate students in the area of automotive design and manufacturing subjects with theoretical and practical issues. The prime objective of the program is to educate undergraduates to acquire knowledge and skills in automotive related issues especially in design and manufacturing and also to provide skills, in order to fulfill the needs and expectations of automotive industry and society and to play a leadership role in their economic and cultural advancement for the benefit of society providing world-class knowledge and education, showing continuous self-improvement in education and regarding as a well-known qualified department .
Automotive Engineering Department aims to support development of automotive field in Bursa and in Turkish industry regarding the development of scientific advances and requirements of University-Industry cooperation. Course Plans are configured regarding the vision and mission of the department. The undergraduate curriculum is designed by considering the scientific advances and requirements of the Turkish industry and regarding the curriculums of other well-known international and national automotive engineering departments.
Department participates in exchange programs including the Erasmus program. Automotive Engineering Department students can spend one or two semesters as exchange students in the universities abroad which are contracted.

Sufficient knowledge in the field of mathematics, science and relevant engineering; skill of implementing this applied knowledge on engineering problem modeling and solving.

Skill of determining, formulating and solving of the complex engineering problems; for this purpose skill of selecting and applying that proper analysis and modeling methods.

Skill of designing a complex system, process, device or product with meeting certain necessity under realistic constraints and conditions; for this purpose skill of applied modern design methods (Realistic constraints and conditions include some issues such as economy, environment issues, maintainability, manufacturability, ethic, health, security, social and politic issues according to the quality of the design)

Skill of using information technologies effectively; skill of developing, selecting and using modern technics and tools needed for engineering applications.

Skill of designing experiment, doing experiment, acquiring data, analyzing results and commenting results for researching analyzing problems.

Skill of communicating oral and written communication in Turkish; at least one foreign language

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Automotive Engineering Graduates can work in the wide range of automotive industry organizations, R&D (Research and Development) firms, consulting companies, manufacturing industry, transportation systems, defense and aerospace industry and in a wide variety of private and public sectors and firms in international and national organizations.

Access to Further Studies
The graduates holding a Bachelors degree from a four-year institution are eligible to apply to Master’s and integrated PhD Degree programs provided that they meet the application and registration requirements.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
The Undergraduate Education Regulations taken by the BUU Senate´s decision are applied.

Graduation Requirements
To complete Automotive Engineering Undergraduate Program successfully, all of the courses (240 ECTS) in the program have to be passed and attain a minimum 2.0/4.0 GPA and internship has to be completed.

In 2011, the Automotive Engineering Department moved to the new modern building which includes offices, lecture rooms, laboratories and a modern conference room. In Automotive Engineering Department, education and research studies are carried out through four branches as Vehicle Design, Vehicle Dynamics and Control, Vehicle Propulsion and Power Systems, Vehicle Transport Systems. Most of the courses require the students to implement their projects and homeworks on modern high performance computing systems. Department has 6 Professor, 4 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, 7 Research Assistant. The department is proud to be a pioneer department for Turkey, as being one of the first of its kind in Turkey, it will lead many activities in automotive fields and it will successfully continue to attain the three goals of its mission; education, research and public service.
